Former Bristol man gets 18 years in prison for plotting to kill his stepdad

A former Bristol man has been sentenced to at least 18 years in prison for conspiring with his mother to kill her husband, who was also his stepfather.

Vergennes police backed up Vermont State Police on Sunday, May 12, in a break-in at a Lake Street home in Panton that police said followed a car accident. 

Vermont State Police last Wednesday received multiple 911 calls reporting a crash in which a motorcycle struck a car on Route 7 in New Haven, knocking both vehicles off the road and severely injuring the cyclist.

Middlebury police investigated a stalking complaint in the Seymour Street neighborhood on May 10.

Vergennes police on Sunday, May 5, cited a Massachusetts man for driving under the influence of alcohol, test refusal, after being told by concerned family members he’d been driving with slurred speech. 

Vermont State Police (VSP) operating out of the New Haven barracks had a relatively light week in terms of the number of official actions they reported.

Middlebury police on April 29 responded to Middlebury’s industrial Park where police said someone has placed “disturbing notes” in “multiple offices” off Pond Lane. Employees of the organizations where the notes were placed had found items out of place. 

Bristol police on April 26 responded to a 911 call reporting a loud argument on Adirondack View. Ultimately police cited Devin Humiston, 25, of Bristol, for violating conditions of release. 

Vergennes police on Sunday, April 28, took a report of fraud involving the supposed sale of two kittens via Facebook to a city resident. 

Vermont State Police issued a series of driving under the influence (DUI) citations in recent action, as well as sought the public’s help in identifying burglars who stole merchandise from a Bristol store.

Middlebury police on April 22 investigated a report of a person standing on the train tracks off Elm and Seymour streets, blocking train travel. Police said the person in question had left upon their arrival.

Recent burglaries at gas stations around the state have targeted thousands of dollars’ worth of vape products; Bristol Country Store is the latest target.

A jury found a Ferrisburgh man innocent of charges that he illegally restrained six young women when he was driving a taxi in which they were passengers.

Vergennes police are looking into the Sunday afternoon theft of a Buick Encore from Champlain Farms. They have a photo of the suspect.

A two-vehicle crash on Route 22A just north of Town Line Road in Addison on April 15 netted a drugged driving charge for a Vergennes driver.
