This year marks the return after a one-year hiatus of the holiday mainstay, which draws hundreds of people to bid on wreaths decorated by local businesses and artists as a fund-raiser for the Mary Johnson Children’s Center. MIDDLEBURY — Since 1978, when Chinese Communist Party Chairman Deng Xiaoping instituted the market-friendly “Reform and Opening Up Policy,” more than 300 million Chinese have climbed out of poverty. MIDDLEBURY — Children will take center stage during two days of festivities this fall as Addison County’s shire town marks its 250th birthday with some epic games, drama and fireworks.

MIDDLEBURY — Some say that artistry runs in the family. If that’s true, then it may be that Weybridge resident Lisa Coale has inherited a keen artistic eye from her grandfather Richard Niebuhr of Middlebury.

Connoisseurs of art can decide for themselves — the two will have their art featured side-by-side at Otter Creek Custom Framing on Friday as part of this month’s Middlebury Arts Walk. Coale’s acrylic paintings and Niebuhr’s photography will be on display from 5-7 p.m.
