MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police assisted two local men who had been targeted in two separate scam attempts on Oct. 14. One of the men was told to deposit money into an account as part of a proposed Craigslist transaction. The other man was told to wire money to Nigeria to allegedly help an orphanage. Police said the men were fortunate to have emerged financially unscathed in both matters.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• Investigated a fraud complaint in the Drew Lane area on Oct. 8.
