MIDDLEBURY — Between June 13-19, Middlebury police cited two men in separate cases of suspected drunk driving.
On June 16 at 9:07 p.m. stopped a car driven by Wesley Huestis, 32, of Middlebury on Court Street for a traffic infraction. Police said a roadside sobriety test showed that Huestis’s blood-alcohol content was 0.165 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08. They cited him for driving under the influence.
Separately, on June 18 at 7:42 p.m., police pulled over a vehicle driven by Thomas M. Plantier, 29, of Whiting on Mahady Court after police had received multiple calls reporting that the vehicle had been driven erratically on Route 7. Police cited Plantier for refusing to submit to a DUI test.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
• On June 13 responded to a report about a suspicious person on John Graham Court. The person was confirmed to be a tenant’s visitor.
• On June 13 investigated a dispute between neighbors on Jackson Lane.
• On June 13 assisted a male who fell on a North Pleasant Street sidewalk.
• On June 13 responded to a report of an elderly woman who claimed to be starving. The officer found the woman on Mary Hogan Drive and determined she was OK.
• On June 13 responded to two-car crash on Main Street. There were no injuries.
• On June 14 investigated a business alarm on Seymour Street that went off because of damaged power lines.
• On June 14 checked a business on Merchants Row whose door was open. The area was secure.
• On June 14 investigated a suspicious male muttering and following another male down Main Street.
• On June 14 checked on a verbal domestic argument in a neighborhood south of the village.
• On July 14 received a wallet found on Church Street in Burlington and turned it over to Middlebury police; local police notified the owner.
• On June 14 served family court paperwork in the Otterside Court neighborhood.
• On June 14 received a report from the Addison County Solid Waste Management District that someone failed to pay for dropped-off waste.
• On June 14 investigated a fraudulent wire transfer of funds overseas in the Washington Street area.
• On June 14 responded to a report of a theft from a Cobble Road resident. A housemate was suspected.
• On June 14 responded to a possible violation of an abuse prevention order on South Pleasant Street.
• On June 14 assisted a truck that spilled a large amount of gravel on Three Mill Bridge Road.
• On June 15 responded to a report of a female on Washington Street using a check that was not in her name.
• On June 15 issued court diversion paperwork to a minor who was caught consuming alcohol on Mainelli Road.
• On June 15 seized marijuana and heroin paraphernalia during a traffic stop on South Main Street.
• On June 15 assisted Department of Fish and Wildlife game wardens with an incident at the intersection of Route 30 and Cornwall Swamp Road.
• On June 15 responded to a caller who had almost been struck by a car while traversing a crosswalk on College Street.
• On June 15 responded to a report that an elderly, confused man walked into the wrong apartment on South Main Street. The man was turned over to his son.
• On June 15 responded to a report of two missing bicycles that had been locked.
• On June 15 assisted a woman who requested a welfare check on her father, who she was unable to contact. Officers checked the man’s residence in the Seymour Street area and did not find him. The woman later reported that she had found her father.
• On June 15 responded to a report about a confused, elderly man in an apartment building on Benedict Lane. The male, who had Alzheimer’s, was turned over to a friend.
• On June 16 responded to a verbal domestic dispute. The parties were separated for the night.
• On June 16 responded to a child custody dispute on East Main Street.
• On June 16 assisted an elderly male who thought his cousin was missing in the East View Road area.
• On June 16 assisted the FBI with an on-going investigation on Court Street.
• On June 16 responded to a report of a suspicious person in the laundry room of at Pine Meadows apartment complex.
• On June 16 responded to a report of a missing purse that was later found.
• On June 16 investigated an accident and ended up citing Frank Meehan, 39, for driving with a criminally suspended license.
• On June 17 assisted Vermont State Police with an injured female in the woods near Dog Team Road.
• On June 17 looked into a report of a suspicious male on Creek Road who was going from door to door, asking to use a telephone.
• On June 17 assisted with an ongoing investigation into a possible vandalism on Creek Road.
• On June 17 assisted the Addison County Sheriff’s Department with an arrest in the South Street area.
• On June 18 responded to a report of a vagrant seeking food and water for a distressed dog on Court Street.
• On June 18 responded to a report of underage people drinking on South Ridge Drive. No one was found in the area.
• On June 18 responded to Addison County Transit Resources regarding a complaint about suspicious activity on Creek Road.
• On June 18 looked into to a report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot on Court Street.
• On June 19 responded to a report that a local man was sitting on the front porch of a Creek Road house that is for sale and that he was trespassing.
• On June 19 assisted in a custody exchange after threats were made to the father of the child.
• On June 19 responded to a report of an open container of alcohol sitting in the center console of a vehicle parked on Porter Drive. Police issued a warning to the owner.
• On June 19 officers responded to a report of domestic assault at the Shaw’s parking lot on Washington Street.
• On June 19 at 11:20 p.m. cited Stephan Belanger, 22, of New Haven for violating conditions for release after an officer saw him purchase a Twisted Tea alcoholic beverage on Court Street.
