MIDDLEBURY — The Ben Franklin store on Main Street could soon be home to a frozen yogurt franchise.

Andy Li, co-owner/partner of Ben Franklin, has applied for permission to install a “Yogurt City” within a 665-square-foot portion of the store.

Yogurt City bills itself as a “franchised and growing chain of self-serve healthy yogurt stores” with more than 60 locations located primarily on the East Coast.

MIDDLEBURY — To say that the Rev. Stephanie Allen has had a busy week would be an understatement of Biblical proportions.

During that brief timeframe, Allen drove from Cleveland to Addison County, closed on a house in the town of Addison and delivered a sermon as the first-ever female pastor of the 110-year-old Memorial Baptist Church of Middlebury.

“It was a smooth transition,” Allen said with a smile on Thursday as she took a quick breather on what was only her sixth day as a Vermonter.

Addison Northwest residents reject VUHS budget

Posted on March 6, 2014 |
By Andy Kirkaldy

VERGENNES — Addison Northwest Supervisory Union voters said no on Tuesday to a $9.73 million dollar Vergennes Union High School budget proposal, 961-747.

If the budget had passed, it would have increased spending by about 2.4 percent.

But the VUHS budget’s tax impact was projected to be more dramatic, thanks to the school’s declining enrollment and a projected budget deficit of almost $548,000 that ANwSU officials said was due to unexpected special education costs.
