ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police were called to a home on Elm Point Road in Addison on Monday, July 9, to investigate a reported burglary.

The resident reported that three 1950s antique pedal cars were stolen from the basement of the residence.

In other recent activity, VSP:

• On July 3 at 3:37 a.m. responded to Bridport where a tractor-trailer hauling logs northbound on Route 22A had overturned just south of the intersection with Cross Road. Police report that the driver of the big rig — Leon LaBonte, 48, of St. Sebastien, Quebec — felt the trailer with the logs begin to shift, and he tried to turn out of the shifting but could not. The trailer overturned, spilling multiple logs, several in the road but most off the roadway. The trailer came to rest across Route 22A, while the cab came to rest on its passenger side off the east side of the road. Police closed this section of Route 22A for a short time until the logs and the extensively damaged trailer were removed. Both the driver and a passenger were transported to Porter Hospital to be treated for non-incapacitating injuries. Both reported wearing their seatbelts.

The accident remains under investigation. Anyone with information in regard to this accident is encouraged to call VSP at 802-388-4919. Information can also be submitted anonymously online at www.vtips.info or text “CRIMES” (274637) to Keyword: VTIPS.
