VERGENNES — Vergennes police on Saturday cited a Northlands Job Corps student for disorderly conduct and simple assault following a confrontation with Northlands security personnel during which the student allegedly tied to choke one security officer and spit on another.

Cited was Marques M. Green, 19, of Rochester, N.Y. Police allege Green had been drinking and refused to take a breathalyzer test before becoming combative with center security officers and verbally threatening them. Police lodged Green at the Chittenden County Correctional Center for lack of $10,000 bail.

In other incidents between Nov. 12 and 18, Vergennes police:

•  On Nov. 12 looked for a car that was reported to be disabled at the intersection of Route 7 and New Haven Road, but it was gone.

•  On Nov. 12 checked out a report that three suspicious men were selling vacuum cleaners out of the back of a van on Panton Road. Police found nothing wrong with the sales operation, but learned one of the men — Nicholas S. •  On Nov. 16 cited Ornan McLean, 45 of Vergennes for driving under the influence of alcohol after stopping his car for defective equipment. Police allege his evidentiary blood-alcohol test read at 0.81 percent after a roadside test of just over 0.10. The legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent.
