Salisbury to honor Civil War hero; descendants come from afar

SALISBURY’S LESTER HACK was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for his heroics on a Civil War battlefield in Virginia in 1865. Hack and other area Civil War soldiers will be celebrated at the Salisbury Community School on Thursday.
SALISBURY — The date was April 2, 1865, and Salisbury’s Lester Hack was a long way from home, in a whole world of hurt.
