ROBERT LATTRELL

BEDFORD, Mass. — Robert “Buster” Miller Lattrell passed away peacefully at the Veterans Memorial Hospital in Bedford, Mass. on Jan. 1, 2017. Buster fought bravely for his country on the front line in World War II.

GLENDA JIMMO

LINCOLN — Glenda Miracle “Rule” Jimmo, 80, of Lincoln passed away on Friday, Dec. 23, 2016. She was predeceased by her parents George and Dorothy “Chandler” Rule of St. George and her husband Dennis Jimmo.

She is survived by her four children, Shayne Thompson of Ferrisburgh; Cindy Thompson of Vergennes; Warren Thompson of Springfield; and Rickey and wife Debbra Thompson of Bristol; twelve grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. She lived for her family and loved a great story.

SHEILA SHERMAN

NEW HAVEN — Sheila Jean Holbrook-Coombs-Sherman, 81, went to join her beloved son, Andrew Sherman, in Heaven after a long illness on Saturday, Dec. 24, 2016. Sheila was surrounded by her loving family and staff in the Memory Care Unit at the Helen Porter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

Sheila loved music, sewing, crafting and shopping. She also enjoyed board and lawn games, especially croquet.

TIM HODGDON

BRIDPORT — Tim Allen Hodgdon of Bridport passed away on Dec. 28, 2016, at home after fighting a long battle of liver disease and then liver cancer. He was born in Newport, Vt. on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 1954, to his parents, the late Gordon Roy Hodgdon and Roberta Irene Moore.

LUCILLE WILLIAMS

CORNWALL — Lucille P. Williams, 85, of Cornwall, passed away Monday, Dec. 19, 2016, at Shard Villa in Salisbury.

Lucille was born April 28, 1931, in Peru, Vt. She was the daughter of Glenn Elmer and Beatrice (Russell) Paige. She grew up in Peru and attended Rutland High School, then graduated from Burr and Burton Academy in Manchester.

RAYMOND VANDER WEY

FERRISBURGH — Raymond “Ray” J. Vander Wey went to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 22, 2016. Raymond was born April 7, 1941 to John and Jennie Vander Wey in Oosterbierum, Friesland in the Netherlands.

Raymond grew up farming with his parents in the Netherlands until 1954, at which time his parents moved with their children to Newton, N.J. to continue farming. They farmed in Newton, later in Chester, until eventually the family moved to a farm in Lafayette, N.J.

JOYCE SCHULTZ

GALION, Ohio — Joyce Ruth Durtschi Schultz, 87, of Galion, Ohio went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, Dec. 26, 2016 at the Cleveland Clinic.

Born July 1, 1929 in Galion, she was the daughter of Paul and Ruth (Kreis) Durtschi. She married David Judson Schultz on July 5, 1952 and he predeceased her on July 2, 1993.

MICHELLE LOUDIN

HARVEST, Ala. — Michelle (Delisle) Loudin of Harvest, Ala., passed away on Dec. 21, 2016, after a short battle with cancer. Michelle was born Aug. 4, 1962, and was a native of Ferrisburgh, Vt. She called Ferrisburgh “the west coast of New England.” She spent most of her life there, and loved the place. Michelle was a graduate of Vergennes High School and Champlain College. She has lived in Harvest, Ala. for the past nine years with her husband, Philip.

ROBERT KELLOGG

MIDDLEBURY — Robert W. Kellogg, 95, passed away in a house fire in his home on Dec. 14, 2016, just five days shy of his 96th birthday.

He was born Dec. 18, 1920 in Katonah, N.Y., the son of William R. and Ethel (Green) Kellogg.

After graduating Katonah High School, he went to Middlebury College. Still in his freshman year, at the outbreak of World War II, he enlisted in the army, and served in the Signal Corps in England as a radar specialist. Thereafter, he maintained close ties with an English family in Chesham that befriended him.

MARGARET COOKE

BRIDPORT — Margaret A. “Midge” Cooke, 88, passed away on Dec. 22, 2016 at the Residence at Otter Creek after a long illness.

Margaret was born Feb. 9, 1928 in Middlebury, the daughter of James and Doris (Walker) Guillow.

Margaret retired after 30 years as office administrator with the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service. Margaret was also a long-time volunteer for Neat Repeats.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
