Anne Pidgeon Memorial Service set for May 12

NORTH FERRISBURGH — A memorial service for Anne Pidgeon, who died on March 10, 2018, will be held on Saturday, May 12, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Charlotte, Vt. There will be a burial immediately following the service at the North Ferrisburgh cemetery in North Ferrisburgh Hollow.

A celebration of her life will be held at the home of Gary Pidgeon at 670 Quaker St. in North Ferrisburgh following the burial.

Aileen D. Lanz

MIDDLEBURY — Aileen D. Lanz of Middlebury passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018, in Burlington, Vt. Born Dec. 4, 1946, in Washington, D.C. she was the daughter of Walter and Lila Lanz. Aileen was predeceased by the love of her life William Saunders.

Aileen was a staple in Middlebury for over 20 years and was caretaker of the Historic Battell Block, where she made many friends. She loved animals and children and had a great appreciation for nature. Aileen believed in the good of all people and never hesitated to help someone in need.

Janet C. Holden Memorial Service

MIDDLEBURY — A memorial service Janet C. Holden, 84, who died Feb. 12, 2018, will be held Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Middlebury United Methodist Church in Middlebury with the pastor Mary Kay Schueneman officiating. A reception for family and friends will be held immediately after in the church fellowship hall.

Burial will be held in Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford following the reception.

Clarence R. Fiske Memorial Service

FERRISBURGH — A graveside memorial service for Clarence R. (Bub) Fiske, who died Jan. 21, 2018, will be held at the Gage Cemetery in Ferrisburgh on Saturday, May 12, at 1 p.m. A reception to celebrate his life will be held thereafter at the home of his daughter Chris Barrows, 57 Kimball Dock Rd., Vergennes.

Michal E. Feder

MIDDLEBURY — Michal E. Feder, a teacher, business and financial consultant specializing in women’s issues, political activist and artist, died Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the Residence at Otter Creek. She was 92.

Lucien Curtis Jr.

LINCOLN — Lucien (Luke) Curtis Jr., 75, died at home in Lincoln on Saturday, April 28, 2018. He was born August 8, 1942, in Verona, N.J., the son of Lucien Sr. and Hazel Curtis. He had a lifelong connection with Vermont and our Lincoln farmhouse and property. Later he lived here for over 30 years, raising his young family.

Ruth Louise Coyle

LINCOLN — On Friday afternoon, April 20, 2018, Ruth Louise Coyle, 95, had her wish granted and was released from her earthly body into the loving arms of her Lord Savior, Jesus Christ.

Clarence John Newton

RUTLAND — Clarence John Newton Jr. 76, formerly of Middlebury, died late Saturday evening April 21, 2018, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 19, 1942 in Burlington, Vt. the son of Clarence J. Newton Sr. and Muriel (Dorey) Newton.

Clarence was a graduate of Middlebury High School. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Clarence was an avid New York Yankees and Giants fan. He enjoyed cutting wood, carpentry, building furniture, music and dancing.

Margaret M. Johnson

LONDONDERRY, N.H. — Margaret M. "Peg" Johnson, 88, of Londonderry, N.H., passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 23, 2018 in Londonderry, N.H.

She was born in Kearny, N.J. on April 15, 1930, a daughter of Adam and Jessie (Lamont) Muir, and had been a resident of Londonderry for the past 15 years, formerly living in Middlebury, Vt. for 30 years.

Mary Rose Rowe

CORNWALL — Mary Rose Rowe of Cornwall died peacefully at home on April 22, 2018 — a beautiful spring day — after a period of declining health. She was just shy of her 83rd birthday. Mary was the daughter of the late Joseph and Rose (Przychodzien) Novak. She was born in Lynn, Mass., and graduated from Lynn Classical High School in 1952. She then attended Boston College and worked at General Electric in Lynn.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
