ROBERT KINGSLEY

MIDDLEBURY — Robert C. Kingsley died April 20, 2015, at his home in Middlebury. He was born in Kenosha, Wis., July 18, 1922, the son of Ralph S. and Eva Wells Kingsley. He attended public school in Kenosha.

He entered Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill, in September 1940, and received his degree in December 1943, wearing the uniform of a midshipman in the U.S. Navy. He trained in the Navy as a Russian linguist.

NATALIE SEKELLA

FLORENCE — Natalie M. Sekella, 75, died Sunday evening, April 19, 2015, at her home in Florence.

Born March 11, 1940, in Elmira, N.Y., she was the daughter of Michael and Mildred Sekella.

Those who knew her said she enjoyed picnics, parades and collecting pocketbooks. She lived in Middlebury for many years and received a lot of help from the Counseling Service of Addison County.

JOHN SOUTTER

MIDDLEBURY — John Downey Soutter, 79, died peacefully on Saturday, April 4, 2015, at The University of Vermont Medical Center following a short hospitalization. Born in New York City in 1935, the son of James Taylor Soutter and Sarah Louise Downey, he grew up in Rye, N.Y. He graduated from St. Paul’s School (’53) and Princeton (’57).

KELLY BOE

MIDDLEBURY — Kelly W. Boe, 55, died Tuesday evening, April 14, 2015, as the result of injuries sustained in an accident.

Kelly was born Oct. 11, 1959, in Detroit, MI, the son of the late Daryl and Joyce (Wells) Boe. He obtained a bachelor of science degree at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Kelly was an engineer, employed by Middlebury College managing the Biomass Plant.

MARY CONLIN

 

BRANDON — Mary Conlin died after a brief illness on Monday, April 13, at her home in Brandon.

She was the wife of Arthur Conlin. They married 47 years ago on Aug. 10, 1968, in Essex Junction.

Her family says she was best known for running/managing the Charlestown Sweater Store in Middlebury for many years. She also worked catering for Toni Neri for many years, and owned and operated the Food Bus at the Charlotte Flea Market.

THOMAS DEDERICK

TICONDEROGA, N.Y. — Thomas William Dederick, 77, died April 15, 2015, at Heritage Commons Residential Care in Ticonderoga. He had family and friends by his side during his final days.

He was an only child born in the Catskills of New York on Sept. 16, 1937. He left his home state for a short time to bring his family to Vermont. He eventually returned to the Adirondacks and spenthis remaining years there.

ELBERT ‘DICK’ NOSTRAND

MIDDLEBURY — Elbert Dickerson “Dick” Nostrand, 86, died Wednesday morning, April 15, 2015, at EastView Residential Care in Middlebury, with his wife by his side. Born Sept. 25, 1928, in Honolulu, Hawaii, he was the son of the late Elbert A. and Ruth (Dickerson) Nostrand.

KELLY BOE

MIDDLEBURY — Kelly W. Boe, 55, died Tuesday evening, April 14, 2015.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, April 20, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. William Beaudin as the celebrant.

NOBEL FARR

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. — Nobel D. Farr, 56, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015, due to complications of lung cancer.

Nobel was born on Sept. 20, 1958 in Vergennes, Vt., to Eleanor and the late Harvey C. Farr of Windsor, Vt. He is survived by Kelly Farr, the mother of his children and life partner; his children Dylan, Kerrin, Kelsey and Kaitlyn; mother Eleanor; brothers Harvey and Philip Farr; sister Susan Bulkeley; and beloved cousin James Nelson.

WILLIAM WESLEY FORD

MIDDLEBURY — William Wesley Ford, 94, of The Residence at Otter Creek, Middlebury, VT, formerly of Simsbury, CT, died peacefully on Sunday, April 12, 2015. He was born January 1, 1921 in West Hartford, CT, the son of William P. and Mary (Boyce) Ford. He attended William H. Hall High School in West Hartford, CT. Bill graduated from Villanova University with a degree in economics.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
