JEFFREY RINGEY

SALISBURY, — Jeffrey Ringey, 55, of Salisbury, died on December 4, 2016. He was born on April 7, 1961, the son of Albert Ringey and Barbara Ringey (Brown).

Jeff graduated from Middlebury Union High School and then studied Automotive Technology at the New Hampshire Vocational Technical College in Manchester, N.H. He was passionate about his career as an automotive technician and spent most of it working for Mazda as a Master Technician.

CHARLES WEBSTER REED

WEST ADDISON — Charles Webster Reed, 99, passed away quietly in his home in West Addison on Wednesday, May 31, 2017.

Charlie was born in Addison on April 20, 1918, the son of Charles Lyon Reed and Lillian Mae Wynne. He was the youngest of four brothers. He worked on the family farm while growing up and attending Vanderhoof school, just up the street from his house. He then attended high school in Vergennes, but did not graduate, instead transferring to the Randolph School of Agriculture for his higher learning.

MARGARET “PEGGY” HILL

ST. ALBANS — On May 30, 2017, Margaret “Peggy” Hill passed away at St. Albans Health and Rehabilitation in St. Albans, Vt., at the age of 93.

Peggy was born on August 8, 1923, in Doylestown, Pa., to Daniel and Florence Patterson. The Patterson’s moved to Vermont, where her father completed his engineering degree at Norwich University in Northfield. Peggy graduated from Northfield High School in 1940. Peggy moved to the Washington, D.C. area in 1958, where she lived and worked until retiring in 1989 and moving back to Vermont.

EAST MIDDLEBURY — Theda H. Costello, age 90, passed away Wednesday May 31, 2017, at Mountain View Center in Rutland. She was born in Burlington to Kenneth and Beatrice (Doane) Myrick.

CHARLES WEBSTER REED

WEST ADDISON — Charles Webster Reed passed away quietly in his home in West Addison on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. A full obituary will appear in Monday’s Addison Independent.

ERMA J. LOWD

NEW HAVEN — A memorial service for Erma J. Lowd, 81, who died January 16, 2017, will be celebrated on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the New Haven Congregational Church, with a reception following in the fellowship hall of the church.

Private burial will take place in Farmingdale Military Cemetery in Middlebury.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home.

WESLEY D. SAWYER JR.

WEYBRIDGE — Wesley D. Sawyer Jr., 89, died Sunday evening May 21, 2017 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born February 13, 1928, in Stamford, Conn., the son of Wesley and Sophie (Hasler) Sawyer.

Wes spent his early years on Rock Rimmon Poultry Farm in Stamford, which he owned and operated with his father and mother.

STEPHEN TABER MYHRE

MIDDLEBURY — Stephen Taber Myhre, 75, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2017, after a long illness. He enjoyed the constant love and support of his family until the very end.

EDWIN H. CONSTANTINE SR.

LEICESTER — Edwin “Ed” H. Constantine, 75, of Leicester, died Tuesday morning, May 23, 2017, at the Helen Porter Nursing Home following a long illness.

He was born on June 15, 1941, in Rumford, Maine, the son of Robert and Ellen (Hall) Constantine.

Mr. Constantine graduated from the Stephens High School in Rumford in 1959 and attended the University of Maine at Orono.

He enlisted in the U.S. Air force, serving for four years. While stationed in Montana he married Carol Thompson on April 16, 1964.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
