TIMOTHY D. MARRINAN

EDINA, Minn. — Timothy D. Marrinan, 72,  of Edina, Minn.,  passed away Jan. 29, 2018, while surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Shirley Marrinan, and sister Teri Marrinan.

JEAN EVELYN FORGUES

ADDISON — Jean Evelyn (Mussaw) Forgues passed away on Friday, Feb. 2, 2018, at Helen Porter Rehab and Nursing in Middlebury. She was 87.

She was born on Nov. 11, 1930 to Edward & Goldie (Clark) Mussaw.

JOHN P. COUSINO

BRISTOL — John P. Cousino, (Pompadour) of Bristol, 60, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018.

He was born February 3, 1957, son of the Lucius Cousino, Sr. and Jean T.C. Easton. John’s dad predeceased him in 2000 and his mom in 2005.

John was an avid hunter and fisherman — a love shared with his son, Jason, his dad and brothers.

John was employed by Don Weston as a heavy equipment operator.

BETTY M. BERENS, 90, MIDDLEBURY

MIDDLEBURY — Betty M. Berens, 90, of Middlebury, Vermont, passed away on January 28, 2018, at the Residence at Otter Creek. She had recently spent a joyous holiday season and celebrated her 90th birthday at the Middlebury home of her daughter Kathy and her husband John Purcell; they were joined by Betty’s son Bob and his wife Patricia of Belmont, Massachusetts, as well as grandchildren Evan Purcell and his wife Kate Ashton; Emily Purcell; and Timothy, Katy, and Peter Berens.

RYAN E. MURPHY

GRANVILLE, N.Y./MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — On Dec. 20, 2017, Ryan Elizabeth Murphy passed from her earthly life to the presence of her Heavenly Father and the loving embrace of her daddy’s arms. She died of natural causes at her residence in Middlebury, Vt., the community where she had lived and worked for the last ten years.

Born on March 28, 1971, in Norwalk, Conn., Ryan was the daughter of Margaret (Young) Murphy and the late Kenneth C. Murphy. The family resided in Westport, Conn., until moving to the Village of Granville, N.Y., in 1974.

DR. DONALD C. “DOC” HUNT

MIDDLEBURY — Dr. Donald C. “Doc” Hunt, long-time large animal veterinarian of Middlebury, passed away on Jan. 27, 2018, after a long battle with Lewy Body Disease, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

PAUL A. FULLER

BRISTOL — Paul A. Fuller, 85, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2018, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

He was born June 10, 1932, in Nelson, Pa., the son of Glenn and Carole Purinton Fuller.

MICHAEL C. WILLIAMS

BOWIE, Md. — Michael C. Williams, 72, formerly of Cornwall, passed away Jan. 21, 2018 at Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md. He was born Aug. 10, 1946, in Middlebury, the son of Everett and Pauline Williams.

A 1964 MUHS graduate, Michael served two deployments in Viet Nam as a U.S. Army helicopter crew chief. He received two Distinguished Flying Crosses, the Soldier’s Medal and the Purple Heart.

ROBERT ALLEN “SHEP” SHEPARD

BRANDON — Robert Allen “Shep” Shepard, 79, passed away Saturday, Jan. 27, 2018, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

ALVERTA L. PERKINS

SHELBURNE — Alverta L. Perkins, 93, died in Burlington on Jan. 19, 2018, after a short illness. She was born June 12, 1924, in South Bend, Ind., to Lynn and Irene Hagenbush Leighty.

In 1945 Alverta graduated from Epworth Hospital Nursing School in South Bend as a registered nurse. She married Bradford Marr Perkins in 1946 and moved to Montpelier, Vt. She lived in Vermont for the rest of her life except for a few years spent in Manchester, N.H. Bradford predeceased her in 2001.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
