Neil Douglas Metcalf, 69, of Addison
ADDISON — Neil Douglas Metcalf, age 69, of Addison, died July 24, 2019 unexpectedly at the UVM Medical Center.
He was born on Oct. 13, 1949, in Westfield, Mass., the son of Frederick Benjamin Metcalf and Doris Elizabeth (Henderson) Metcalf.
After graduating high school, Neil enlisted into the United States Navy serving during the Vietnam Era. He was a plumber by trade, employed by Dundon Plumbing and Heating of Orwell, and Middlebury College. He was a member of Mount Independence Lodge 10 F & A.M. of Orwell and also a member of the Cairo Shriner’s. He was also a member of the Middlebury VFW and the Vergennes American Legion. He enjoyed golfing, riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife Terri L. (Payne) Metcalf of Addison Vt.; his children Dustan Metcalf, Paul Metcalf of Orwell, and Charlene Dunsmore; stepsons Raymond and Jarod Bushey of Middlebury; mother-in-law Jean V. Payne of Bridport; and several grandchildren, including Hayden and Adison Metcalf of Orwell. He is also survived by brother Kirk (Linda) Metcalf of Massachusetts, sister Jill (Richard) Wenski of Massachusetts and sister-in-law Dorothy Gehring Metcalf of Massachusetts. He is predeceased by his parents and older brother Craig Metcalf.
Services will be held Sunday Aug. 4, at the Addison Baptist Church at 1 p.m. followed by a reception at the Middlebury VFW on Exchange Street.
Military Burial at the Veterans Cemetery in Randolph, Vt., will be held at a later date.
