Sodbusters pitchers net tourney titles

BRISTOL — Two members of the Sodbusters Horseshoe Pitching Club earned titles when the group hosted its annual Sodbusters Fall Roundup Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 15.
Dawn Coleman won Class C, where she scored 226 points with a 43.23 ringer percentage. In Class D, Mistylee Baird claimed the title with 249 points and pitched ringers 40.88 percent of the time. Both achieved 6-1 records against the competition. 
The winner of the Class A division was Massachusetts pitcher Shelly Martinez, who went 7-0, tallied 254 points and posted a ringer percentage of 70.96. No Sodbusters placed in Class A.
A total of 68 pitchers competed, including eight from Connecticut and two each from New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine. The rest were Vermonters.
The results for Sodbusters pitchers were, by win-loss record, points scored and ringer percentage:
Class B: 2. John Remy, 5-3, 234, 44.60 percent; and 4. Michael Devino, 3-3, 165, 42.61 percent.
Class C: 1. Dawn Coleman, 6-1, 226, 43.23 percent; 4. Nate Pelletier, 3-3, 164, 33.20 percent; 5. Michael Brown, 2-4, 156, 37.40 percent; and 6. Vicki Pelletier, 2-4, 154, 33.21 percent.
Class D: 1. Mistylee Baird, 6-1, 249, 40.88 percent; 3. Ken Cassidy, 4-2, 187, 41.79 percent; and 7. Jennifer Bassette, 1-5, 112, 22.00 percent.
Class E: 4. Matt Coleman, 4-2, 174, 29.61 percent.
Class F: 3. Ron Williamson, 3-2, 172, 27.62 percent; and 6. Maurice Cyr, 0-5, 94, 15.38 percent.
Class G: 3. Alan Curler, 3-3, 157, 15.79 percent; 4. Robert Bergeron, 3-3, 141, 14.66 percent; and 5. Lou Cousino, 2-4, 122, 14.83 percent.
Class I: 5. Jackie Gorton, 2-3, 121, 15.60 percent; and 6. Barry Bassette, 0-5, 94, 9.68 percent.
Class J: 5. Beverly Forgues, 1-4, 92, 4.80 percent; and 6. Christopher Hudson, 0-5, 87, 11.89 percent.
