John C. Allo

ROCKLAND, Mass. — John C. Allo, 47, of Rockland died at his home from cardiomyopathy on Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007. He was born in Havelock, N.C., son of Samuel R. Allo of Glens Falls, N.Y., and the late Frances C. (Magnotta) Allo and was raised and educated in Vergennes.

A former Stoughton resident, he has made his home in Rockland for the past 13 years. He was the owner of John Allo Productions in Rockland, providing DJ services throughout the South Shore. An innovative entrepreneur, he used his internet skills to create a popular wedding services marketing site, www.southshoreweddings.com, and he was the author of “Bubble Parties,” a business plan for entertainment venues to be provided to pre-schools.

John maintained his own on-line radio station, www.ClassicRockAlbumCuts.com, and served as Web master for internet sites for Holy Family Church in Rockland and St. Mary’s Church in Scituate. He was a member of the National Association of Mobile Entertainers, and was a vendor at numerous wedding expo shows on the South Shore.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Patricia (Ryan) Allo; his children, Mary E. Allo, Susan F. Allo and Samuel J. Allo, all of Rockland; and his siblings, Laurie Allo and Vincent Allo of Vermont, and Sharon Jenkins of Pennsylvania. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The funeral left from the Magoun-Biggins Funeral Home at 135 Union St. in Rockland on Thursday at 8:15 a.m. for the Funeral Mass in Holy Family Church at 9 a.m. Calling hours were on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Burial took place in Holy Family Cemetery.

Todd Michael English

BRANDON — Todd Michael English, 32, died Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, in Brandon. He was born in Middlebury on Oct. 21, the son of Charles and Judith (Baldwin) English.

He received his early education in Seymour, Conn., schools. He moved back to Brandon in 1988 and graduated from Otter Valley Union High School, class of 1994. He worked for several years as a carpet installer. He later worked for Vermont Protective Coating for several years.

He enjoyed working on anything mechanical, cars, motorcycles and four-wheelers. According to family, he was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed camping.

He is survived by a daughter, Jessica Corey of Brandon; his father, Charles English and step-mother Judy English of Brandon; his mother, Judith Fortin of Seymour, Conn.; his brother, Paul L. English of Bitburg, Germany; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

A private funeral service will be held at a later date at the Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Roger Foster, pastor of Life Bridge Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be private.

Richard Leon “Rick” Griffin

SUDBURY — Richard Leon “Rick” Griffin, 35, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2007, at Rutland Regional Medical Center. He was born in Rutland on October 3, 1972, the son of Michael and Deborah (Gould) Griffin.

He received his early education in local Sudbury schools and attended Otter Valley Union High School. Following school he worked in automobile restoration for Jim Zutell in Sudbury. He later worked for Jeff Hornbeck as a carpenter’s helper. He worked in the carpentry business for Naylor & Breen and David Martin of Sudbury. He worked several years for Pittsford Mills Cabinetry Makers in Pittsford. More recently he ran his own salvage business. According to family, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his parents, Mike and Debbie Griffin of Sudbury; a son, Michael Rex Griffin of Sudbury; two sisters, Penney Griffin Kimball of New Haven, and his twin sister, Rebecca Marcoux of Castleton; his grandmothers, Betty Gould of Belfast, Maine, and Iola Griffin of Honeapath, S.C.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be private.

Fern Adele Fillio

BRANDON — Fern Adele Fillioe, 84, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at Haven Health Care in Rutland. She was born in Utica, N.Y., on June 1, 1923, the daughter of Newton and Anna (Crippin) Wilkins.

She graduated from Utica High School in 1941 and Rutland Hospital School of Nursing in 1944.

On July 10, 1945, she married Walter Joseph Fillioe in Utica, NY. They made their home in Brandon.

She worked as a registered nurse at Rutland Hospital for over 40 years, retiring in 1988 as nursing supervisor. Following her retirement she volunteered at Neshobe Elementary School. and the Brandon Library book sale. In later years she continued her nursing profession as an eldercare person to Dorothy Miller in Brandon.

In her earlier years she enjoyed playing golf and was a member of Neshobe Golf Club. She was a past member of Olivet Presbyterian Church in Utica, NY.

She is survived by two daughters, Shelley Martel and her husband Wayne of Orwell, and Kathleen Fillioe-Sherwin and her husband James Jr. of Brandon; six sons, John Fillioe of Brandon, Kim Fillioe and his wife Sandra of Wyomissing, Pa., Keith Fillioe and his wife Doris of Pittsford, Gary Fillioe of Pittsford, Brian Fillioe of Brandon, and Robert Fillioe and his wife Deborah of Montpelier; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband in 1974, and her twin sister, June Wilkins Ardo, in 1959.

The funeral service was held on Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the Leicester Church of The Nazarene. The Rev. Hoyette Johnson, pastor of the First Missionary Baptist Church in Moultonborough, N.H., officiated. A private burial took place in the family lot at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.
