Christina R. VanDusen
CORNWALL — Christina R. VanDusen, 60, died Jan. 23, 2008, with her family by her side. She was born Sept. 12, 1947, in Middlebury, the daughter of Joseph A. and Romona (Lackard) D’Avignon.
She was a much loved hair stylist for over 40 years in Burlington and most recently of The Lady Fair in Middlebury.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald L. VanDusen of Cornwall; her son, Scott of Cornwall; her sisters, Pedie O’Brien-Brisson and her husband Armond, and Rebecca D’Avignon; her brothers, Tim D’Avignon and his wife Jan of Orwell, and Lindsey D’Avignon of Orwell; her sister-in-law Diane Heald and her husband Jim of Essex Junction, and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father.
At her request there will be no services at this time; a celebration of her life will be held at a later date to be announced with family and friends.

BRISTOL — Samuel Svrcek, 100, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at his home in Bristol. He was born July 13, 1907, in New York City, N.Y., the son of John and Kristina Svrcek.
He spent 79 years on Long Island, N.Y., and the remaining 21 years in Bristol. He was employed as an installation-repair foreman for 49 years at New York Telephone Co. He was a mason for 65 years and member of the Libanus Lodge in Bristol.
Samuel is survived by a son, William Svrcek and his wife Patricia of Bristol; a daughter, Evelyn and her husband William Rice of PA; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Svrcek.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at Brown McClay Funeral Home in Bristol.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol.

Shirley Theresa Denton
BRANDON — Shirley Theresa Denton, 78, died Monday, Jan. 28, 2008, at the Helen Porter Health and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury. She was born in Proctor on May 10, 1929, the daughter of Spencer and Ruby (Parker) Shepard.
She grew up on the family farm in Monkton, and received her education in local Monkton schools. She later moved to Bennington, where she was employed by Union Carbide for several years. On April 9, 1960, she married Allen William Denton in Brandon, where they made their home. He died May 7, 2004.
She worked for Nexus Corporation in Brandon for over 10 years. She later worked with her late sister, Charlotte Johnson, at Otter Valley Grocery in Brandon. She was a member of The Neshobe Sportsman Club and the Brandon Senior Citizens.
According to family, she enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends at Wyman’s Camp Ground.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam Jones, and a son, Van Denton, both of Brandon; a brother, Robert Shepard of Brandon; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Beverly Fisher, Helen Newton and Charlotte Johnson; and two brothers, Harold Shepard and Eugene Shepard.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Leicester Church of The Nazarene. The Rev. Larry Keiser, pastor, officiated. A private graveside committal service and burial will follow in the family lot at Forest Dale Cemetery.
