Florence E. Pool

MIDDLEBURY — Florence E. Pool, 79, of Rogers Road in Middlebury, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Porter Hospital.

Born July 3, 1929, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Isaac and Cecelia (Gotchall) Block. 

Florence was a homemaker and a resident of Middlebury since 1954.

She is survived by one son, Gary S. Pool and his wife, Tracy, of Hyde Park; two daughters, Debra A. Pool-Hahn and her husband, Edward, of Reston, Va., and Amy S. Pool of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren, Erin L. Cram and her companion, Samuel Demmons, of Gorham, N.H., and Kara E. Pool and her companion, Patrick Krock-Horton, of Northampton, Mass.; two great-grandchildren, Aria M. Day and Sadie N. Demmons; and many good friends and neighbors.

Florence was predeceased by her husband Edwin L. Pool and a brother, Henry D. Block.

M. Perry Ketcham

SUDBURY ­— M. Perry Ketcham, 88, of Sudbury died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008 at Rutland Health Care Center.

He was born July 8, 1920, in Sudbury, the son of Robert Perry and Lena (Churchill) Ketcham. He received his early education in a Sudbury one-room schoolhouse. He graduated from Brandon High School, class of 1937.  On Oct. 15, 1949, he married Frances Prediger in the Stephen A. Douglas House in Brandon. They made their home in Sudbury. 

He has been a dairy farmer all his life, retiring in April 1999. He had served the town of Sudbury as a lister for many years. He was a member of A.S.C.S. with the state of Vermont Department of Agriculture, for more than 40 years. For many years he was the fertilizer buyer for many Rutland and Addison county farms, back when everything was shipped by railroads. Family said he was a hard-working family man who doted on his four grandchildren.

He is survived by one son, Oliver Ketcham and his wife Mary Ellen of Sudbury; three granddaughters; one grandson; two sisters, Barbara Mulcahy of Sudbury and Anna Edwards of Cheyenne, Wyo.; eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his wife on Oct. 8, 2007; two brothers, Charles Ketcham and Robert Ketcham; and a sister, Mary Jane Elliott.   

The graveside committal service and burial took place on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, in the family lot at Willow Brook Cemetery in Sudbury. The Rev. Albert “Skip” Baltz, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated.

Dwayne Milton Jennings

STARKSBORO — Dwayne Milton Jennings, 54, of Starksboro died Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, after a long illness at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury. He was surrounded by family and loved ones at the time of his death.

He was born July 14, 1954, in Burlington, the son of Ervin and Beatrice (Gaskin) Jennings. Family said his pleasures in life were logging and farming, and he was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He also loved spending time with family, friends, and grandchildren. He was also a member of the Vermont National Guard.

He is survived by two sons, Jamie Jennings and his wife Jennifer, and Jeremy Jennings; three grandchildren; four sisters, Rachael Norris, Barbara Poquette and companion Peter Morgan, Connie Hanson and husband Jeff, and Marsha Davis and husband Ralph; four brothers, Wendell and wife Jeannette, Robert, Percy and wife Judy, Francis and wife Cookie; and life-long companion Cheyanne Warner.

He was predeceased by his sister Beverly Scribner.

Funeral services were held on the morning of Thursday, Oct. 16, at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol. Interment will be at River View Cemetery in Richmond.

Albert A. Gebo

WALTHAM — Albert A. Gebo, 67, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2008, surrounded by his family at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

He was born Jan. 29, 1941, in Burlington, the son of Alfred and Yvonne (Theoret) Gebo.

He was a member of Vergennes Lions Club and Spruce Lodge in Lincoln.

Albert is survived by his wife of 39 years, Valli Gebo of Waltham; three children, Cdr. Brian Gebo and wife Heather of Hawaii, Julie Schondube and husband Aaron of Leicester and Sara Little and husband Tim of Orwell; four grandsons, Brady, Aidan, Spencer, Walter, and two grandsons on the way; two sisters, Irene Pierce and husband John of North Ferrisburgh, and Lucille Doenges and husband Roger of North Ferrisburgh; two brothers, Henry Gebo and wife Patti of Panton; Alan Gebo and wife Cindy of Monkton; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, at Vergennes Congregational Church followed by a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Vergennes Lions Club, Attn. Shannon Atkins, 3 North Maple St., Vergennes, VT 05491.
