Jeffrey Paul Titus

CHARLOTTE — Jeffrey Paul Titus, 42, died peacefully on Friday, Oct. 17, 2008, at his home in the presence of his family following a long battle with leukemia. He was born on Aug. 16, 1966, in Aberdeen, S.D., the son of Robert and Bernice (Leicht) Titus, of Charlotte.

Jeff graduated from Champlain Valley Union High School in 1984. Jeff spent his life doing what he loved most, farming together with his father Robert Titus on the family farm in Charlotte. He married Lorraine K. Irish on April 30, 1994, in Fletcher. Jeffrey enjoyed NASCAR racing, biking, four-wheeling, snowmobiling, hiking, and teaching his son Ryan how to drive tractors. One of his favorite annual events was the Charlotte Tractor Parade where he showcased his favorite Massey Ferguson Tractors.

Jeff is survived by his wife Lorraine and son Ryan of New Haven; his parents Robert and Bernice Titus of Charlotte; his sister Laurie and husband Peter Curler, and their children Bobby and Bradley of Charlotte; his in-laws Ike and Brenda Irish of Fairfax, and Polly and Ann Irish-Lodge and their son Samson of Seattle, Wash.; his brother-in-law Howard Irish and wife Kristine and their children, Kelsie, Connor, Madison, and Alison of Fletcher; sister-in-law Dorene Whitley and her husband Robert and their children Jasmine and Emma of Seattle, Wash.; and brother-in-law Austin Irish of Fairfax. Jeffrey is also survived by many other loving family members and friends.

Jeffrey was predeceased by his infant sister Diane.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at the Middlebury Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Albert (Bud) Scully

LINCOLN — Albert (Bud) Scully of Lincoln died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008.

He was born in Fort Thomas, Ky. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Army, European theater of war, and received the Bronze Star. He graduated from Seton Hall University, was a member of the American Legion, and a retired field engineer from Volkswagen of America, Ringwood, N.J. He was a member of the ambulance squad and Bristol Rescue Squad for almost 30 years, and served as lister for town of Lincoln for many years.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor; six children, Kathleen and John Yurco of N.J., Karen Obert of N.J., Michael and wife Paula of Pa., James of N.J., Patricia and partner Upashant Consolato of N.J., Eileen and partner Ed Religa of Canada; seven grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at St Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol. Interment was at Maple Cemetery in Lincoln.

Inez Masterson

WINGDALE, N.Y. — Inez Masterson, 91, formerly of Middlebury, died on Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at her home in Wingdale, N.Y.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1917, in Westford, Vt., the daughter of Albert and Grace (Learned) Perry. She graduated from high school in Essex Center. She lived on the family farm until her late teens, when she moved to the Middlebury area.

She married Robert Masterson in 1936 and they lived in the Middlebury area for many years. Inez worked for several years at Sigma Phi Epsilon at Middlebury College as a chambermaid and also worked at The Tops restaurant.

In 1965 the family moved to Wingdale, N.Y., and shortly thereafter she started employment at Harlem Valley State Hospital, where she worked as an aide for 16 years.

Family said she loved working outside in her flower gardens and often had so many gladiolas that she would give them to friends. She loved picking berries and would make jam to give to family members. She was extremely industrious and remained active and energetic until a few years before her death.

She was a faithful member of the Dover Plains, N.Y., congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses for many years.

She is survived by nine daughters: Marie Gover of Hudson Falls, N.Y.; Barbara Dwy of Wingdale, N.Y.; Carol Wales of Mansfield, Mass.; Janice Ketcham of Sudbury; Dorothy Dragon of Ripton; Brenda Masterson and Patricia Grey both of Wingdale, N.Y.; Beverly Marrero of Cohoes, N.Y.; and Lynn Owen of LaGrangeville, N.Y.; 23 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Robert Masterson, five brothers, Kenneth, Leslie, Carl, Ralph and Robert), and one sister, Maude.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Nov. 1, at 3 p.m. at the Sanderson Funeral Home on South Main Street in Middlebury.


Richard R. Duprey

FERRISBURGH — Richard R. Duprey, 60, passed away Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at his home in Ferrisburgh.

He was born Feb. 26, 1948, in Proctor, the son of Joseph and Frances (Pray) Duprey.

He is survived by his companion, Sandy Isherwood of Ferrisburgh; a son, Joseph Duprey of Paris, France; two sisters, Mary Dahlin and husband, Dan of Proctor, and Patricia Sheehan and husband David of Huntington, NY; four nephews, two nieces, and several cousins. He is predeceased by a brother, Joseph Duprey.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 22,, at St. Dominic Church in Proctor. Interment was in Riverside Cemetery in Proctor. Contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 121 Connor Way, Williston, VT 05495.
