Broomsticks, quaffles, bludgers and snitches made their annual appearance on the Middlebury College campus Sunday for the Intercollegiate Quidditch Association World Cup. Teams from 22 colleges traveled from Canada and as far away as Texas to compete in the growing sport based on a game played by flying wizards in the Harry Potter books. Middlebury alum Alex Benepe, top left, who helped start the sport at Middlebury several years ago, oversaw this year’s event as commissioner of the IQA. Middlebury successfully defended its title by beating Emerson in the final. Pictured are players from Middlebury, McGill, Villanova, Green Mountain and Vassar.
