THE SECOND 65-FOOT girder for the Cross Street Bridge in Middlebury is carefully positioned between a concrete pier and a temporary steel tower Friday morning. Five girders were placed on the east side of Otter Creek and 10 more will be lifted into position from the west side starting Dec. 1.
