Middlebury Police Log: Local man cited for aggravated assault

MIDDLEBURY – Middlebury police cited Matthew L. Husk, 30, of Ferrisburgh on Nov. 11 for second-degree aggravated domestic assault, following an alleged incident at a Sugarwood Court residence. Police said Husk was lodged at the Addison County Sheriff’s Department lockup for lack of $5,000 bail.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

  Assisted a local woman who had been receiving harassing phone calls on Nov. 7. Police said the woman alleged that the caller was threatening to arrest her for not repaying a loan. Police said they warned the man to stop calling the woman.

  Investigated reports of illegal fires on land off Munson Road and Weybridge Street on Nov. 7.

  Responded to the alleged assault of a man at Hannaford Supermarket on Court Street Extension on Nov. 7. The man, according to police, alleged he was assaulted by several other men, who then left the scene in three separate vehicles. The matter remains under investigation.

  Received a report about a student allegedly violating the Middlebury Union High School drug and alcohol policy on Nov. 8.

  Assisted Middlebury College Public Safety in investigating an incident involving an injured student on Nov. 8.

  Encountered a drunken youth stumbling south on Main Street on Nov. 9. Police said the youth jumped a fence and ran away along the train tracks.

  Investigated a report of someone stealing gas from a vehicle parked at some storage units off Route 7 North. Police said someone had drilled a hole in the vehicle’s gas tank.

  Received a report of a dog attacking another dog on the hiking trail off South Main Street on Nov. 9.

  Responded to a report of a child being left unattended in a vehicle parked off Washington Street on Nov. 9.

  Assisted a local man with mental health issues on Nov. 10.

  Were informed that someone had stolen some rent money that had been slipped underneath an office door at the Middlebury Commons housing development off Buttolph Drive on Nov. 10.

  Cited Adrian A. Moore, 20, of Middlebury for unlawful trespass at Shaw’s Supermarket off Washington Street on Nov. 10.

  Undertook a student residency investigation on behalf of MUHS officials on Nov. 11.

  Assisted a local man who said another local man had threatened him on Nov. 11.

  Investigated an alleged family dispute at Middlebury Beef Supply on Route 7 South on Nov. 11.

  Responded to a theft complaint at a Lindale Circle residence on Nov. 12.

  Investigated a harassment complaint at a Buttolph Drive residence on Nov. 12.

  Received a report that someone stole a woman’s purse while she was at Shaw’s Supermarket on Nov. 12.

  Interviewed a local woman who claimed a vehicle followed her home on Nov. 13. She told police she believed a man inside the vehicle was stalking her.

  Investigated allegations that a man was driving a local man’s vehicle without his consent on Nov. 13.

  Received to a report that a man had tried to use a fake $10 bill to pay for food at McDonald’s Restaurant on Route 7 South on Nov. 14. A restaurant official told police that the person who tried to pass the bill was part of group of four Hispanic men who left in a green Chevy SUV. Police could not locate the suspects.

  Assisted Porter Medical Center officials with an agitated patient on Nov. 14.
