Middlebury Police Log: Sculpture missing from the Ilsley

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police were informed of the theft of a sculpture from the Ilsley Public Library on Feb. 29. Police said the sculpture was valued at $1,200.

Ilsley officials have offered a reward for information leading to the recovery of the green slate tile carved with an image of a mother and child. Those with information should call the police at 388=3191 or David Clark at Ilsley library at 388-4095.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Assisted a local resident who was receiving harassing phone calls on Jan. 27.

•  Cited Raven Sunhawk, 30, of Middlebury for violation of an abuse prevention order, following a complaint issued by a local resident on Feb. 27.

•  Took a homeless person to the Blue Spruce Motel for temporary lodging on Feb. 27.

•  Arrested a local man on an outstanding warrant on Feb. 28.

•  Assisted a South Pleasant Street woman who voiced fears that an ex-girlfriend might damage her apartment on Feb. 28.

•  Were informed that someone had allegedly forged and cashed some checks belonging to a Foote Street resident on Feb. 29.

•  Investigated an alleged burglary at a Paul Allison Lane residence on Feb. 29.

•  Assisted Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association officials with an elderly woman needing medical care on Feb. 29.

•  Received a report of a person allegedly stealing a local person’s bank account information to make their own checks on March 1.

•  Were informed that someone had drawn graffiti on one of the Cross Street Bridge support columns on March 1.

•  Received a report on March 1 that eCorp English had bounced two wage checks to a former worker. Police said the two checks totaled $5,453.

•  Were informed of the theft of “several” sap buckets from an East Munger Street property on March 1.

•  Responded to a reported fight in the Main Street area on March 1.

•  Responded to a reported landlord-tenant dispute at an Airport Road residence on March 1.

•  Investigated a noise complaint at a Washington Street residence on March 1.

•  Received a truancy complaint from Middlebury Union High School on March 2. Police said the student returned to school later that day.

•  Were informed that someone had tried to use a fake identification card to buy alcohol at the Vermont Liquor Outlet in the Hannaford’s supermarket on Court Street on March 3.

•  Cited Orlaith Creedon, 32, of Middlebury for leaving the scene of an accident and negligent operation, following an accident on High Street on March 2. Authorities allege that Creedon drove across a residential lawn and hit some marble blocks and a telephone pole.

•  Cited Beth Ann Quackenbush, 24, of Middlebury for a criminal count of driving with a suspended license on Route 7 South on March 2.

•  Responded to a noise complaint at the Blue Spruce Motel on March 3.

•  Took a homeless woman for shelter at the Blue Spruce Motel on March 3. Police said the woman was living in her car, which was not registered and therefore had to be impounded.

•  Responded to a noise complaint at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel on Route 7 South on March 3. Police said a guest had confronted the front desk staff over cookies that had been available but now were all gone.

•  Received a report of the theft of some maple sugaring equipment from another East Munger Street property on March 3.

•  Investigated a car-deer collision on East Main Street on March 3.

•  Quieted a noisy party at a Washington Street residence on March 4.

•  Cited Parker Caldwell, 18, of Waitsfield for driving under the influence following a stop for erratic driving on South Main Street on March 4. Police said they measured Caldwell’s blood-alcohol content at 0.082 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent.

•  Asked an unruly man to leave the Memorial Sports Center on Buttolph Drive on March 4.
