VERGENNES AND MIDDLEBURY were among five area towns that organized Memorial Day parades over the holiday weekend. The weather was perfect and the crowds were large at both events. Marching bands, floats, veterans, politicians, pageant winners and horse-drawn wagons all navigated the roundabout in Middlebury before heading up Main Street, while Main Street in Vergennes featured the same and more, including a giant flag that stretched nearly from one side of the street to the other. In ceremonies after the parades both the Little City and Addison County’s shire town honored those who gave their lives in service to their country.
