VERGENNES — Vergennes police on Saturday night issued a citation for driving under the influence of alcohol after responding to a call for aid from a Vermont game warden.

City police said they first got a call from the dispatcher that the warden had stopped a car on Basin Harbor Road in Panton. When the warden did not respond to police calls to ask what the issue was, they went to the scene and discovered the warden had stopped a car driven by Philip Myers, 24, of Shelburne.

After a brief investigation, police said Myers was cited for DUI, third offense, and a criminal charge of driving with a suspended license. Police said his blood-alcohol content tested at 0.270 percent, more than three times the legal limit for driving of 0.08 percent.
