ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police last week received a report of the theft of logging chains, load binders and a set of red clamp-on forks from the Ferrisburgh town garage on Little Chicago Road.

The theft is believed to have occurred between Aug. 31 and Sept. 11.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the VSP at 388-4919 or submit an anonymous tip by texting “CRIMES” to keyword “VTIPS.”

Separately, state police are looking for a young woman driving a maroon Geo Prizm. This driver is suspected of having caused a truck driven by Kevin Jackson, 21, of Ripton to go off the road on Blake Roy Road in Middlebury and roll over on Monday around 5 p.m. In rolling over, diesel fuel in the bed of this truck spilled onto the ground.

The Middlebury Fire Department responded quickly and cleaned up the mess.

Jackson was not injured, but the 1979 Chevy truck was totaled.

The Geo Prizm was last seen traveling south on Middle Road in Salisbury. This vehicle did not stop to render assistance to Jackson. Anyone with information in regard to this accident is encouraged to contact VSP at 388-4919.

In other recent activity, troopers:

•  On Sept. 12 at a little before 4 p.m. were notified that someone was illegally growing marijuana in a cornfield near Route 17 in New Haven. The grow operation was discovered when the corn was being cut down. Trooper Conway reported that marijuana was growing at around six separate sites, each containing five to six plants. Police pulled out the marijuana and took it to the New Haven state police barracks for destruction.

•  On Sept. 12 at 5:52 p.m. received a report that someone had broken into a motor vehicle on Mountain Road in Addison and stole a purse sometime between 4 and 5:50 p.m. Anyone with information is asked to contact the VSP at 388-4919. •  On Sept. 12 at almost 11 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle driven by Bryon J. Carper, 21, of New Haven on Route 116 in Bristol for defective equipment. Police cited Carper for driving under the influence.

•  On Sept. 13 received a report of the theft of a gold eagle and a gold cross from a headstone in the cemetery located at the intersection of Burpee Road and Plank Road in Bristol. The theft occurred between July 20 and 27. The combined value of the two items is approximately $200. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the VSP.

•  On Sept. 13 at approximately 9:50 p.m. arrested Bobby James Keys, 42, of Burlington on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh without incident on an outstanding warrant for violation of probation. Keys was transported to Fletcher Allen Health Care by Vergennes Area Rescue Squad for medical complications unrelated to the arrest. Bail was set at $25,000.

•  On Sept. 14 responded to a report of a motorcycle crash with injuries on Route 125 in Hancock. Police said the driver, identified as 45-year-old John Mckelvey of Nashua, N.H., had driven a 2004 Ducati motorcycle into some loose gravel while negotiating a sharp turn. The motorcycle fell onto its side and slid off the road. Police reported that Mckelvey is an experienced motorcycle driver and was wearing proper safety equipment. He was transported to Porter Hospital in Middlebury for treatment of road rash and bruises. The motorcycle sustained dents and scratches on its left side.

•  On Sept. 14 at approximately 11:24 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle on Jersey Street in Ferrisburgh. Further investigation showed police that the driver, identified as Stephen Fleming, 57, of Ferrisburgh, was operating his vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Fleming was subsequently taken into custody and transported to the New Haven barracks for processing and released after being cited for DUI.

•  On Sept. 16 at approximately 12:47 a.m. stopped a vehicle on Panton Road in Panton and discovered that Jonah Breer, 23, of Vergennes was allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. He was cited for DUI.

•  On Sept. 16 cited both Tyler Gregorek, 22, of Brandon and James Welch, 21, of Chelsea for DUI on Spring Road in Tunbridge.

•  On Sept. 16 at around 11:15 p.m. stopped a motor vehicle driven by Molly Mahoney, 27, of Winooski for speeding on Route 22A in Orwell. During the stop, it was found that Mahoney’s right to drive in Vermont was criminally suspended. It was also found that she had an active arrest warrant. Mahoney was lodged on the warrant and cited into court to answer the charge of driving while license suspended, criminal count.

•  On Sept. 17 at approximately 8:43 a.m. received a vandalism complaint on Shellhouse Mountain Road in Ferrisburgh. The victim said the mailbox appeared to have been hit, possibly by a baseball bat. The mailbox post also received minor damage. The incident occurred between Sept. 16 and 17. Anyone with information is asked to contact the VSP.

•  On Sept. 17 at approximately 9:20 a.m. stopped a motor vehicle driven by Tisa Farrow, 61, of Castleton on Route 22A in Shoreham. Police said they determined Farrow was driving with a criminally suspended license (for a prior DUI), and she was also under the influence of alcohol at the time of the stop. Police took Farrow to the New Haven VSP barracks, where she provided a breath sample that authorities said showed she was over the legal blood alcohol limit of 0.08 percent.

Farrow also had her 22-month-old grandson in the vehicle with her at the time of the stop; and she was also on conditions of release from a prior DUI charge that she not drive and not consume, possess or purchase any alcohol at any time.

Troopers cited Farrow into Addison County Court on Oct. 15 to answer the charges of endangering a child under age 2; DUI, third offense; a criminal count of driving with a suspended license; and violation of conditions of release.

•  On Sept. 17 began investigating the theft of a white Hobie Bravo sailboat from Lake Dunmore. The sailboat is approximately 4 feet by 12 feet, has two hulls, and the sail for the boat is red/blue/yellow. The victim estimated the current value of the boat at $1,200. Anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Andrew Leise at 1-802-388-4919, or to submit information online or by texting.

•  On Sept. 17 at approximately 1:22 p.m. were called to look for a senior citizen with Alzheimer’s disease who was missing in Starksboro. The 75-year-old man reportedly walked away from his house and could not be located. Troopers from the New Haven and Williston barracks, Hinesburg police, Addison County sheriff’s deputies and members of the Starksboro Fire Department responded to the area to begin search efforts. The man was located at approximately 2 p.m. after approximately 40 minutes of searching. Starksboro Fire Chief Tom Estey found the man approximately 1.5 to 2 miles from his residence on Big Hollow Road. The man did not require medical attention and was returned to his residence without incident.

•  On Sept. 18 said they are investigating an ongoing issue with someone shooting out the traffic lights on the one-way bridge on Route 116 in Bristol. On this past Tuesday at approximately 12:35 a.m. troopers responded to another report of gunshots in the area of the bridge. Upon arrival authorities found that someone had shot out the two southbound green lights.

Shortly after this incident an older grey Toyota regular cab truck with a wood body and loud exhaust was seen in the area traveling south on Route 116.
