MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to an attempted suicide at a Buttolph Drive home on Dec. 17. Police said the woman in question had apparently taken a large quantity of pills. Emergency responders took the woman to Porter Hospital for treatment.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Picked up two bikes that had reportedly been abandoned behind a store on Washington Street on Dec. 10. The bikes included a black Diamond Back Topanga and a red-and-white Barracuda 26-inch mountain bike. Anyone missing either of those bikes is asked to call Middlebury police (with the serial number) at 388-3191.

•  Searched for a hitchhiker wearing dark clothing who was walking down Route 125 west of town during the evening of Dec. 10.

•  Assisted Middlebury Volunteer Ambulance Association in responding to a report of a drug overdose at a Jackson Lane home on Dec. 11.

•  Were informed that a vehicle had left the Middlebury Village Depot on Court Street without paying for $26.80 in gas on Dec. 11. The driver claimed her credit card apparently did not work at the pump.

•  Responded to a report of a loud, impolite man disturbing people at the Ilsley Public Library on Dec. 11.

•  Investigated a noise complaint at a Seminary Street residence on Dec. 12.

•  Monitored the serving of an eviction notice on a guest of the Charter House on North Pleasant Street on Dec. 12.

•  Were informed that someone had driven away from the Middlebury Village Depot on Court Street without paying for $57 in gas on Dec. 12.

•  Assisted a Connecticut man who alleged that he had used a GPS locator to trace his stolen iPad to a Forbes Circle residence on Dec. 12. Police interviewed the Forbes Circle resident who had an iPad — and was able to prove it was his own. The resident also allowed police to search his home for other iPads, but none were found, according to authorities.

•  Cited Zachary P. White-Robinson, 22, of Middlebury for driving under the influence, following their investigation of a car off the road at the intersection of Painter and Happy Valley roads on Dec. 13.

•  Warned a Latham, N.Y., man who was operating his vehicle erratically on Route 7 North on Dec. 13.

•  Ticketed a Middlebury Union Middle School student for being a minor in possession of chewing tobacco on campus on Dec. 13.

•  Responded to a hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles on Court Street on Dec. 13.

•  Were informed of a car-deer collision on Route 7 South near the A&W Restaurant on Dec. 14. Police said no one in the vehicle was hurt. The deer died.

•  Served a no-trespass order on Dec. 14 on a person who was not wanted on the Middlebury Union High School campus.

•  Investigated a report of a homeless man sleeping under a tarp off Water Street on Dec. 15. Police found a tarp at the location, but no homeless person.

•  Served a no-trespass order on Dec. 15 on a man who was not wanted at American Flatbread in the Marble Works complex.

•  Responded to a reported domestic dispute at an Elm Street home on Dec. 15.

•  Investigated a report of a drunken, strange-acting man hanging around the Porter Field Road area on Dec. 15.

•  Responded to reports of fireworks being set off in the Pulp Mill Road, Halladay Road and Ridgeline Road areas on Dec. 16.

•  Investigated a landlord-tenant dispute at a Cross Street residence on Dec. 16.

•  Assisted a local man who said on Dec. 16 that his identity had been stolen. Police said the man alleged someone had opened multiple credit card accounts in his name.

•  Investigated a report of a woman being injured by a car on Washington Street Extension on Dec. 16.
