THE SOUTH STREET Bridge in Bristol has been closed to car traffic since 2010 and last week the roadbed was removed, which now means that pedestrians can no longer use it either. Several South Street residents without cars are now effectively cut off from the village. A new bridge is scheduled to open next summer.

BRISTOL — Residents of homes just south of Bristol village are complaining about the long detour they have to take to get to town, as a condemned bridge on South Street is slowly torn down.
