MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police on Aug. 31 talked down a juvenile male who had threatened to commit suicide by jumping off the Cross Street Bridge. Police said the youth was then taken to Porter Hospital for counseling.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Helped calm a child at a Seminary Street residence on Aug. 26.

•  Assisted a Jayne Court resident who wanted a man removed from her residence on Aug. 26.

•  Assisted a Monroe Street resident who had been contacted by a phone scammer on Aug. 26.

•  Investigated a report of someone stealing and damaging a local resident’s trailer on Aug. 26. Police said the crime was traced to a local juvenile.

•  Responded to a domestic dispute at a Jayne Court residence on Aug. 26.

•  Spoke with an apparently despondent woman who was sitting on the Marble Works footbridge during the evening of Aug. 27. The woman told police she was OK.

•  Cited Dennis Bonnin, 32, of Middlebury for violation of his conditions of release, following an incident at a John Graham Court residence on Aug. 27.

•  Investigated an Aug. 27 report of someone refusing to return a lost cat without being paid.

•  Received a report that someone had slashed the tires of a vehicle parked at the Valley View Apartments on Aug. 27.

•  Took a very drunk local man to the Grace House in Rutland on Aug. 28. Police said the man — whose blood-alcohol level was measured at 0.184 percent — had been causing a disturbance in the North Pleasant Street area. As a point of reference, the legal blood alcohol limit for driving is 0.08 percent.

•  Assisted a Sugarwood Apartments resident who was having trouble disciplining a granddaughter on Aug. 28.

•  Took, to Porter Hospital, a woman who had been threatening to jump in front of traffic on Route 7 North on Aug. 28.

•  Served an abuse prevention order on a local woman on Aug. 28.

•  Were informed that someone had allegedly taken some prescription drugs from a vehicle in the Shaw’s supermarket parking lot on Aug. 28.

•  Cited David J. McQuade, 52, of Winooski for driving under the influence, after responding to a “be on the lookout” for a vehicle traveling erratically on Case Street on Aug. 28.

•  Were called to the Ilsley Library on Main Street amid reports of “rambunctious teens” both inside and outside of the building on Aug. 29. The youths had left when police arrived.

•  Responded on Aug. 29 to a report of a disruptive female in the Exchange Street area who was deemed to be a danger to people around her. Police took the young woman to her parents.

•  Were informed that someone had “keyed” the side of a car parked at Vermont Sun off Exchange Street on Aug. 30.

•  Took an “out-of-control” female from the Birchard Park area to Porter Hospital on Aug. 30.

•  Responded to a two-vehicle accident, with injuries, at the intersection of Mainelli Road and Pond Lane on Aug. 30. Police said both drivers were taken to Porter Hospital following the head-on collision.

•  Assisted a local woman who was having a mental health issue in the Rogers Road area on Aug. 30.

•  Investigated a report of a man making “wild gestures” outside of a North Pleasant Street residence on Aug. 31. The man told police he was waving back at motorists who waved at him. Police encouraged the man to stay inside his home.

•  Received a request from Middlebury College to serve a no-trespass order on a man for its campus, as well as for the 51 Main restaurant, on Aug. 31. College officials told police the man had harassed a female employee at 51 Main.

•  Assisted a person who complained of having been harassed on Aug. 31.

•  Cited Jonathan Burt, 25, of Middlebury for driving under the influence, following a stop for crossing the center line on Route 30 on Aug. 31.

•  Received a report of a cow walking on East Main Street on Sept. 1. Police could not locate the animal.

•  Responded to a report of an unruly patient at Porter Hospital on Sept. 1.

•  Assisted an individual in obtaining a relief from abuse order on Sept. 1.

•  Responded to a report of cows on Munger Street on Sept. 1.

•  Responded to a report of an unwanted person in the Buttolph Drive neighborhood on Sept. 2.
