VERGENNES — Vergennes police handled a variety of incidents between Nov. 4 and 10, including an allegation of stalking, custody disputes, minor assaults and substance abuse issues.

During that week, city police:

•  On Nov. 4 secured an unlocked door at a New Haven Road business.

•  On Nov. 4 stood by at a Main Street child custody exchange.

•  On Nov. 5 helped the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad lift a patient at a High Street residence.

•  On Nov. 5 directed traffic around a disabled tractor-trailer truck on Main Street.

•  On Nov. 5 cited Jeremy S. Minsky, 24, of Levittown, Pa., for possession of marijuana and paraphernalia and ticketed him for speeding after stopping his car for going 60 mph in a 30 mph West Main Street zone.

•  On Nov. 6 responded to a father’s complaint that his ex-wife would not release their children into his custody for a medical appointment; police ended up referring the man to the Addison County State’s Attorney’s office for a possible violation of a relief-from-abuse order.

•  On Nov. 6 referred to the state’s attorney’s office and to parole and probation officials allegations that a man was violating conditions of his release by allegedly stalking his ex-wife at a Maple Manor home, both by driving repeatedly through the neighborhood and by repeated phone contact. Police also on Nov. 4 had responded to the woman’s complaint he was harassing their son, but the son told police the man was not bothering him.

•  On Nov. 6 looked into a complaint of kids on bikes riding around in a South Maple Street cemetery, but found no one.

•  On Nov. 7 began looking into a report of a woman leaving the Small City Market without paying for $7 of gas.

•  On Nov. 7 spoke with Northlands Job Corps officials about a female student who had been dismissed after punching another female student; police said the student’s mother had sent a disturbing text before the incident.

•  On Nov. 7 received a tip about a possible drug deal behind Vergennes Union Elementary School, but found no one upon arrival.

•  On Nov. 7 checked a report of an assault on Hillside Drive, but found the woman and man allegedly involved unwilling to cooperate.

•  On Nov. 8 found a drunken woman walking on Main Street and crying; she said she was upset with her boyfriend, with whom she had been drinking at the City Limits bar. Police took her home, and when they went to the bar were told the man had been disorderly and issued him a no-trespass order.

•  On Nov. 9 on behalf of Vermont State Police looked into a report that a car had gone off Route 7 in Ferrisburgh. Police learned the car had returned to the road and found it at the Shaw’s Supermarket parking lot; the case was then returned to VSP.

•  On Nov. 10 checked into a report from a John Graham Shelter resident that a car had been stolen; police learned there was a civil dispute about the vehicle’s ownership.
