MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Jeffrey Manshel, 22, of Weybridge for possession of more than 2 ounces of marijuana; and Joshua Benoit, 22, of Bridport for possession of less than 2.5 grams of cocaine, following a traffic stop on Weybridge Street on April 26. Police said they searched the vehicle after having successfully applied for a search warrant from the Addison County Courthouse.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Located some people who were late in  returning home from a hike on the Abbey Pond Trail on April 21.

•  Took into protective custody on April 22 a 39-year-old man who was intoxicated and was seen walking around Middlebury College campus, allegedly “chasing” students.

•  Assisted Porter Hospital with an unruly patient on April 22.

•  Received a sexual assault case from the Addison County Unit for Special Investigations on April 22.

•  Interviewed a local woman on April 22 who alleged that her boyfriend had taken her cell phone. Police said the boyfriend alleged he had taken the phone to prevent the woman from buying drugs. Police said the phone was returned to the woman.

•  Ticketed a man for using a fake identification card in a failed effort to buy beer from the Maplefields store on North Pleasant Street on April 23.

•  Warned a motorist who had allegedly been damaging a driveway behind the John Graham Court development on April 23.

•  Assisted a person who had received inappropriate text messages on April 23.

•  Investigated a domestic disturbance in the Court Street area on April 24.

•  Issued court diversion paperwork to a drunken youth in the Seymour Street area on April 24. Police said they received a report from Middlebury Fire Department that a drunken male had walked into the station, bleeding from the face. The youth told police he had fallen, injuring his face.

•  Responded to a report of a man overdosing at the Briarwood Apartments on April 24. Police said the man was OK.

•  Responded to a report of a McDonald’s Restaurant customer refusing to remove his dog from the eatery on April 24. Turns out the dog was a service animal and had a right to be inside the restaurant, according to police.

•  Received a visit from an apartment tenant who reported receiving harassing text messages from his landlord on April 24. Police advised the landlord to use legal means in addressing his grievances against the tenant.

•  Cited a 16-year-old juvenile for retail theft after he allegedly stole beer from the Champlain Farms store on Court Street on April 25.

•  Responded to a report of two men fighting on Mill Street on April 25. Police said the matter remains under investigation.

•  Located a child’s wagon that had been taken from a North Pleasant Street residence on April 25. Police said two juveniles had taken the wagon to haul some bottles to a local redemption center.

•  Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with a medical incident at a Kestrel Lane residence on April 25.

•  Checked on the welfare of a Danyow Drive resident on April 26.

•  Interviewed a Rogers Road landlord who reported receiving harassing text messages from a tenant on April 27. Police said the tenant also reported receiving harassing messages from the landlord.

•  Assisted New York State Police in the investigation of a stabbing that occurred in Hampton, N.Y., on April 27.

•  Received, from a local resident on April 27, some prescription drugs to be destroyed.

•  Assisted a Seminary Street Extension family in getting rid of an unwanted person on April 27.

•  Got mental health counseling for a Cross Street resident who had reported on April 27 that his landlord had shut off his toilet.

•  Responded to a noise complaint in the Cross Street area on April 27.

•  Investigated a loud verbal argument between two male family members on Seminary Street on April 28. Police determined that nothing physical had occurred and both men agreed to be quiet and go to sleep.
