Bristol police have a busy February

BRISTOL — Bristol police on Feb. 19 arrested Chastity Pecor, 29, of Bristol, on suspicion of stealing a wallet from a car parked outside of the Baptist Church in Bristol three days earlier. In other action in February, Bristol police:

On Feb. 1, responded to Maplefields for a report of a gas drive off. Police took down a copy of the transaction and will conduct a follow up.

On Feb. 1, provided security for a basketball game at Mount Abraham Union High School, and encountered no problems.

New program fights hunger in Bristol

BRISTOL — An expanding food program at Bristol Elementary School will give more children access to healthy food during the week, and also on weekends.

The initiative, called “Bites in a Bag,” is a partnership between the Bristol Have-A-Heart Food Shelf, the Bristol Elementary food service staff and parent volunteers.

The group sends students home at the end of each week with a snack bag stocked with foods such as cheese sticks, yogurt, popcorn, fruits and vegetables.

Town administrator to end his eight-year run in Bristol

BRISTOL — After 30 years of dealing with pot holes, dog bite complaints and municipal budgets, Bristol town administrator Bill Bryant is ready to retire. Bryant, 57, tendered his letter of resignation at the March 17 selectboard meeting; and his last day will be April 30.

“It seemed like the right time to make a decision for me and the person who replaces me,” Bryant said, noting that the next fiscal year’s budget has been developed and approved by voters.

Opinion: Budding artists feted in Bristol

Art on Main in Bristol had an amazing reception on March 7. It was to recognize our Emerging Artists from Mount Abraham Union High School.

It was one of the best receptions held there. Seventy-seven students, parents, relatives and friends crowded into the gallery in tribute to these students along with three faculty and two gallery staff.

Bristol Police Log: Police respond to suspicious vehicle call

BRISTOL — Bristol police recently issued a log of their activity for the month of January. A notable call that month came on Jan. 24 when an officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle on West Street. The driver said she couldn’t get cell service in Lincoln, so she was using her computer and iPad from West Street.

When the driver said she was cold and unable to start her car, police provided her with a cup of hot chocolate and jump-started her car.

Bristol Police Log: Authorities respond to accidents, thefts in December

BRISTOL — Bristol police recently issued a log of their activities this past December.

On Dec. 18 at 3:30 p.m. they responded to a report that a teenage girl was approached on the sidewalk between Mount Abraham Union High School and Liberty Street by a man unknown to her.

The man called the girl by the name of a different girl, and attempted to hug her. The girl refused the embrace and insisted he had mistaken her for someone else.
