ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police responded to a two-car crash on Middlebrook Road in Ferrisburgh last Saturday, Aug. 18, at approximately 8:55 p.m.  Upon arrival, troopers fond that one of the vehicles had left the scene of the crash.

Police later located the vehicle that had left the scene. Senior Trooper Joseph Pregent said it was down an embankment off of Long Point Road in Ferrisburgh. He identified the driver as Donna Marie Trucott, 48, Ferrisburgh.

While speaking with Trucott, troopers noted a strong odor of intoxicant and other signs of impairment. They arrested her without incident and transported her to the New Haven VSP barracks, where she was later released after being cited to appear in court to answer charges of driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident.

In other recent activity, troopers:

•  On Aug. 13 at 2:01 p.m. were called to investigate the burglary of a Route 7 home in Salisbury; the burglary occurred between 11 and 11:45 a.m. Items reported taken from the residence included jewelry and prescription drugs. Police said there were no signs of forced entry. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Vermont State Police at 802-388-4919. •  On Aug. 14 began investigating the theft of a snowmobile trailer from a Route 7 residence in Ferrisburgh. Police at the time said they were on the lookout for Shayne Thompson, whom they described as a 56-year-old transient. Police said a witness saw Thompson taking the snowmobile trailer from the residence. State police believed that Thompson was staying at hotels in South Burlington or with family.

•  On Aug. 14 were called to a School Street residence in Cornwall where the owner was checking on his vacant rental property and discovered someone had entered the residence through an unlocked rear door sometime between Aug. 9 and 14. The victim discovered that someone had hooked a hose up to the washing machine and turned it on, flooding the residence and causing approximately $1,000 in damage. State Police are asking anyone with information regarding this case to call them or submit tips anonymously over the Internet.

•  On Aug. 14 responded to a one-vehicle roll-over accident at the intersection of Stevens Orchard and Stage Road in Orwell. Police said Paul Hale, 53, of Texas was driving a green Hyundai Sonata when he failed to navigate the corner at the intersection, lost control of his vehicle went into the ditch causing the vehicle to roll onto its roof. Police allege that he was driving faster than the posted speed limit. Hale, who was not wearing a seat belt, was extracted from the vehicle and transported to Porter Hospital to be treated for bruising and a possible neck injury. The Sonata sustained side panel and roof damage.

•  On Aug 15 at 8:11 a.m. were called to investigate a burglary at a locked home on Old Hollow Road in Ferrisburgh, where approximately $500 worth of copper piping was stolen. The home was vacant and not being lived in at the time of the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Senior Trooper Andrew Leise at 1-802-388-4919. •  On Aug. 15 received a report of the theft of a GPS unit from a vehicle on Raymond Hill Road in Orwell sometime since July 22.

•  Were called to investigate an assault and vandalism to a motor vehicle believed to have occurred between 12:30 and 1 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 16, on Woodland Drive in Bristol. Anyone who was in the area or who might have information is asked to contact the VSP at 388-4919 or to submit tips electronically.

•  On Aug. 16 received a report of a burglary on Monkton Road in Bristol. Numerous items were reported stolen, including a jewelry box containing earrings and bracelets, and a gold watch with diamonds.

•  On Aug. 16 at about 3 p.m. responded to a two-car crash on Carlstrom Road in Bristol. Police said Jason Bishop, 25, of Bristol told them he was driving a Dodge Neon northbound over the crest of a hill and he was slightly left of the center of the road when he collided with a southbound Ford Focus driven by Brittany Corse, 22, of Bristol. The Bristol Rescue Squad assisted at the scene, and the trooper reported that passengers in Corse’s car may have been slightly injured. He gave Bishop a ticket for failure to drive on the right.

•  On Aug. 17 cited Shayne E. Thompson, 56, for violation of conditions of release and petit larceny. On Aug. 13, police said, she allegedly entered her ex-boyfriend’s vehicle and stole change and legal documents. The vehicle was parked at his Ferrisburgh residence, which she has conditions to stay away from. Thompson was observed on an infrared security system and identified by the victim as well as by police.

•  In the morning of Aug. 18 checked out the reported theft of a black-and-green “Primo Truth Cam 35” game camera from private land off Kane Road in Bristol. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact VSP.

•  On Aug. 18 at 1 p.m. responded to a two-car crash on Route 30 near Park Lane in Cornwall. Police report that a green, 1998 Subaru Legacy wagon driven by Melissa M. Raymond, 61, of Middlebury was southbound on Route 30 when Raymond attempted to turn left into a parking lot across from Park Lane. The trooper said Raymond failed to yield to an oncoming white, 2013 Ford Explorer Ltd. driven by Jeanne M. Whitaker, 63, of Shoreham, and collided with it causing minor to moderate damage to both vehicles.

Both vehicles were able to drive away from the scene, and there were no injuries. The trooper said neither speed nor impairment were contributing factors to this collision. She issued Raymond a written warning.

•  On Aug. 18 cited Dwayne Vukoder, 36, of Bristol for a criminal count of driving with a suspended license on Route 116 north of Bristol.

•  On Aug. 18 at approximately 10:01 p.m. responded to a motor vehicle accident on Swamp Road in Cornwall. Daniel Bedard, 46, of Addison told police that a deer ran across the roadway and he was unable to brake in time. Bedard’s Dodge Ram pickup sustained extensive damage to its hood, windshield and passenger side and was towed from the scene.

•  On Aug. 20 at 9:38 a.m. cited Taya E. Mahony of North Ferrisburgh for driving with a suspended license on River Road in New Haven.

•  On Aug. 20 received a report of the burglary of a Knox Hill Road home in Orwell. The assailant had gained through the back door, police report, and two Duracell car batteries, a pillow case and a purple glass jar of change were taken. Anyone with information is asked to call the VSP.
