MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Thomas Husk, 54, of Middlebury for three counts of disorderly conduct, following an investigation in the North Pleasant Street area on Sept. 22. Police said three people reported being harassed by Husk, and they also alleged that he had been hitting someone’s car.

Police said they measured Husk’s blood-alcohol content at 0.215 percent and took him into protective custody. For the sake of comparison, the legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Investigated a family dispute at a North Forty Lane residence on Sept. 16.

•  Followed up on the vandalism to a 9/11 memorial display on the Middlebury College campus. Police said protesters on Sept. 11 had uprooted and taken an estimated 1,800 of the 2,977 American flags that students had placed on college grounds. On Sept. 16, Middlebury police reported that someone had anonymously returned 1,182 of the missing flags to Middlebury College Public Safety.

•  Heard on Sept. 16 from the parent of a Middlebury Union High School student who said her daughter had received threatening text messages.

•  Responded to a report of a vehicle-pedestrian accident on Court Street on Sept. 17. Police said a female pedestrian sustained a minor foot injury.

•  Warned a man to stop harassing a North Pleasant Street woman on Sept. 18.

•  Got counseling help for a man who had threatened to cut himself with a piece of glass on Sept. 18.

•  Issued court diversion paperwork to a man caught for possession of marijuana in a vehicle on College Street on Sept. 18.

•  Responded to a family dispute at a Jayne Court residence on Sept. 18.

•  Responded to a family dispute at Porter Hospital on Sept. 18.

•  Warned construction workers who were violating the town’s noise ordinance by using power tools at a Cottage Lane house site at 12:19 a.m. on Sept. 18.

•  Released, to Middlebury College Public Safety, a drunken man who had been staggering on College Street on Sept. 19. Police said they measured the man’s blood-alcohol content at 0.221 percent.

•  Were informed that a man had punched a woman’s car and climbed on top of it while it was on North Pleasant Street on Sept. 19. Police said the woman has identified the culprit.

•  Ticketed an underage person who tried to buy alcohol using a fake identification card at the Middlebury Short Stop on Sept. 19.

•  Investigated a report of someone jumping in front of cars on Route 7 South near the A&W Restaurant on Sept. 19. Police said the man was gone when they arrived.

•  Responded to a reported theft at Aubuchon Hardware on Court Street on Sept. 19. Police said a women pushing a shopping cart past the Aubuchon outdoor display area grabbed a “Losco” ceramic tower heater, placed it in the cart, and dashed to her car in the parking lot. She then put the heater — valued at $60 — into her silver Volvo sedan and sped off south down Court Street. The woman is described as being in her 50s, weighing around 140 pounds, with shoulder-length brown hair.

•  Received a report that someone had thrown rocks through a Mead Lane resident’s bathroom window on Sept. 20.

•  Found a sober friend to escort a drunken man back to his home on Sept. 20.

•  Cited Adam Racine, 27, of Middlebury for petit larceny, after he was allegedly seen stealing from other McDonald’s Restaurant employees on Sept. 20.

•  Responded to a family dispute at a Gorham Lane residence on Sept. 20. Police said the family was arguing over a property issue not in Probate Court.

•  Responded to a report of a MUHS student striking a middle school student at Middlebury Union Middle School on Sept. 20.

•  Ticketed a young driver for driving with a blood-alcohol content of more than 0.02 percent in the Middlebury College parking lot off Shannon Street on Sept. 20. Police also issued court diversion paperwork to a passenger in the car.

•  Warned a woman for violating the town’s open container law on Sept. 21.

•  Broke up an argument between a drunken man and woman near the Battell Bridge on Main Street on Sept. 21.

•  Told a drunken man on North Pleasant Street to go back into his home on Sept. 21.

•  Were informed of the theft of an Apple iPhone from a South Street Extension resident on Sept. 21.

•  Destroyed some drug paraphernalia and beer found on the edge of a Seymour Street property on Sept. 21.

•  Investigated a report of lewd and lascivious conduct at a South Village Green residence on Sept. 22.

•  Responded to a report of someone firing paint balls at a South Main Street home on Sept. 22. A witness told police the culprits had fired the paintballs from a silver SUV.
