MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police on Friday, Nov. 22, responded to a noise complaint at a Woodland Park residence that turned out to be an underage drinking party. Police are serving court diversion paperwork to those involved and will contact the Addison County State’s Attorney’s Office about possible charges against an individual for furnishing alcohol to minors.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Responded to a trespassing complaint at a Route 7 North residence on Nov. 18.

•  Requested that a driver move her car, which had been parked at a gas pump at the Maplefields store on North Pleasant Street for more than 45 minutes on Nov. 19.

•  Received a report that someone had smashed the windshield of a car that had been parked near Lindale Circle on Nov. 19.

•  Responded to a car-deer collision on Route 7 North on Nov. 19. Police said the deer’s remains were given to one of the people in the vehicle.

•  Investigated a report of a local woman posting suicidal messages on Facebook on Nov. 19. Police said they met with the woman and determined she didn’t need treatment.

•  Responded to a report of a man having a mental health breakdown on Main Street on Nov. 19. Police said the man had become angry about a financial issue and had ripped a rear wiper blade from a parked van and kicked the rear window of the vehicle. Police said Counseling Service of Addison County officials tended to the man.

•  Responded to a report of a woman passing what was suspected to be a stolen check at Greg’s Meat Market on Elm Street on Nov. 19. Police said the woman had left upon their arrival and the matter remains under investigation.

•  Investigated a report of a tractor-trailer unit backing into some parked vehicles in the Pond Lane area on Nov. 19.

•  Responded to a report of people playing guitars in the Main Street area around midnight on Nov. 20. Police said the musicians had left upon their arrival.

•  Helped a local juvenile who reported being harassed via the Internet on Nov. 20.

•  Received a report that a local woman’s ex-husband had stolen a check and had cashed it at a local store on Nov. 20.

•  Investigated a report of a threatening note being left on a vehicle parked off Court Street on Nov. 21.

•  Received a report about children “yelling and screaming” in the Ilsley Library on Main Street on Nov. 22.

•  Assisted a local family on Nov. 22 that was being harassed and possibly threatened on Facebook.

•  Responded to a report about a man sleeping in the Merchants Row bus stop on Nov. 22. Police confirmed the man was indeed waiting for the Addison County Transit Resources bus.

•  Assisted Middlebury rescue officials with a patient believed to have overdosed on Nov. 23.

•  Noticed on Nov. 23 that the stop sign at the intersection of Monroe Street and Buttolph Drive had been removed and was lying on the ground. Public Works officials replaced the sign.

•  Cited Joshua Pushee, 19, who is homeless, for trespassing and resisting arrest, following an incident on South Main Street on Nov. 23. Police allege that Pushee had been trespassing on Middlebury College property.

•  Assisted the town water department at the scene of a water main break on South Street on Nov. 23. Police said the water had risen to a level that was creating unsafe driving conditions.

•  Served court diversion paperwork on two youths for being minors in possession of alcohol on Shannon Street on Nov. 23. Police also issued warnings to the youths for violating the town’s ordinance against public urination.

•  Assisted Porter Hospital officials with an unruly patient on Nov. 24. Police said the patients agreed to calm down and met with counseling professionals.

•  Responded on Nov. 24 to a resident’s request for more speed monitoring on School House Hill Road.

•  Assisted a woman who said her car was struck while in the Exchange Street car wash on Nov. 24.

•  Were called to Middlebury College campus to meet with a confused elderly man on Nov. 24. Police said the man drove away prior to their arrival.

•  Received a report that someone had stolen a storm window from an Otterside Court home on Nov. 24.

•  Investigated an alleged burglary at a Seymour Street residence on Nov. 24. Police said the resident reported some items stolen from his apartment.

•  Ordered a Case Street resident to extinguish an unauthorized backyard fire on Nov. 24.

•  Turned over, to a sober friend, a drunken man seen staggering on Seymour Street on Nov. 24.

•  Issued court diversion paperwork to a drunken youth who was walking along South Main Street on Nov. 24.

•  Warned a man who was carrying an open container of alcohol on College Street on Nov. 24.
