VERGENNES — Vergennes police cited three drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol this past weekend, including one for DUI, second offense.

That last citation came on Friday, April 18, when police responded to a car that had jumped a Main Street curb in front of the Ryan Block. Police issued the DUI-2 citation to the operator, Jody P. Harrington, 35, of Charlotte.

The other two citations came on Sunday, April 20. Police stopped Chad Steady, 39, of Ferrisburgh for speeding on Route 7 and cited him for DUI.

Vergennes police also cited Marco Samaritoni, 27, of Vergennes after stopping his car at the intersection of Main and Green streets for failure to use a turn signal. Police said Samaritoni failed roadside sobriety tests and cited him for DUI, although they said his blood-alcohol content was within the legal limit for driving.

Also last week, police cited Ferrisburgh resident Emily Morrill, 18, for felony sale of marijuana. Police allege Morrill in March sold $350 of the illegal drug in one transaction.

In other incidents between April 14 and 20, Vergennes police:

•  On April 14 conferred with Vergennes Union High School administrators about three regularly truant students; police reached and spoke to two of the students and referred the third case to the Department of Children and Families.

•  On April 14 went to a local church in search of a woman for whom they had a message about a family member, but could not find her.

•  On April 14 accepted prescription pain meds for destruction.

•  On April 14 responded to a report of an arguing couple on West Street and discovered it was verbal only and the man involved had left.

•  On April 15 went to check out a report of a disabled car blocking traffic on Main Street; it was gone.

•  On April 15 looked for a car said to be speeding around Thomas Circle, but couldn’t find it.

•  On April 16 dealt with a Hillside Acres apartment noise complaint; the residents said they were playing with their cat and promised to quiet down.

•  On April 16 issued a no-trespass order to a relative of a Bowman Road resident.

•  On April 16 helped calm and remove a disorderly VUHS student, and referred his case to the DCF.

•  On April 16 contacted the owner of a wallet a citizen found in Ferrisburgh.

•  On April 16 began investigating an alleged assault on West Main Street: A pregnant woman alleged a neighbor slapped her because she had spoken to a neighbor’s client about not parking on the green strip in front of the complainant’s home; according to the alleged assailant, the victim was rude to the client.

•  On April 17 responded to two two-car accidents, one at the intersection of West Main Street and Hopkins Road and one at the intersection of Main and Canal streets; one of the drivers in the second accident was treated at Porter Hospital and released.

•  On April 17 conducted a background investigation on behalf of the state’s attorney’s office.

•  On April 17 helped Vermont State Police with three cases: The city’s Drug Recognition Expert helped VSP at the city station, city police responded to an accident on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh, and city police went with VSP to Ferrisburgh to help rescue personnel handle a potentially violent mental patient, who was then taken to Fletcher Allen Health Care.

•  On April 19 sent the city Drug Recognition Expert to Castleton to help Rutland VSP, and helped local VSP with a DUI case on Old Hollow Road in Ferrisburgh.

•  On April 19 cited Justin Moulton, 32, of Addison for driving with a criminally suspended license after stopping his car for defective equipment; police also ticketed him for marijuana possession.

•  On April 20 picked up a loose dog on Sunset Drive and took it to the Vergennes Animal Hospital.

•  On April 20 calmed an arguing man and woman on Second Street.
