MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to a reported burglary at the Airport Auto Storage Units off School House Hill Road on Sunday, Oct. 23. Police said someone allegedly cut the lock off one of the units and stole a cherry sleigh bed, with king-sized mattress. Police said the items were valued at a combined total of around $5,000.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

  Assisted a local woman who reported receiving harassing calls and text messages on Oct. 17.

  Investigated an alleged junk ordinance violation in the Lower Foote Street neighborhood on Oct. 17.

  Responded to a family dispute at a Newton Drive residence on Oct. 17.

  Responded to a family dispute at a Woodbridge Lane residence on Oct. 17.

  Responded to two separate reports of vehicles striking animals on Oct. 18 — one on Munger Street, the other on Weybridge Street.

  Received a report on Oct. 18 of someone driving away from the Middlebury Village Depot on Court Street without paying for gasoline.

  Responded to reports of two truant students from Middlebury Union High School on Oct. 18.

  Served a no-trespass order on a man who was not welcome at the Round Robin store in the Marble Works complex on Oct. 18.

  Responded to a report of a very drunk man found sleeping in the Johnson Building at Middlebury College on Oct. 18. Police said the man’s blood-alcohol level registered above 0.4 percent; as a point of reference, the legal limit for driving is 0.08 percent. The man was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center, according to police.

  On Oct. 18 assisted a local girl who was being bullied at school and on Facebook.

  Investigated the theft of a cell phone from a McDonald’s Restaurant employee on Oct. 18.

  Served a no-trespass order on Oct. 19 on a man who was not wanted at Kinney Drugs.

  Picked up a truant student and delivered him to MUHS on Oct. 19.

  Investigated a report of a group of homeless people congregating around a campfire off Maple Street on Oct. 19.

  Responded to a report of a “possible lewd incident” that had occurred at the Hannaford Career Center on Charles Avenue on Oct. 20. Police said the case remains under investigation.

  Investigated an assault case at the Hill House on North Pleasant Street on Oct. 20.

  Assisted a local woman who had received a threatening text message on Oct. 20.

  Found a drunken man sleeping in front of the Co-operative Insurance Co. headquarters off Washington Street Extension on Oct. 21. Police said they took the man to his mother’s house.

  Received a report of a hit-and-run accident involving two vehicles in The Centre parking lot off Court Street on Oct. 21.

  Responded to a domestic dispute at the Champlain Farms store on Court Street on Oct. 21.

  Investigated a family dispute at a Foote Street home on Oct. 22.

  Investigated an alleged family dispute at a North Pleasant Street home on Oct. 23. Police said there were no signs of an altercation when they arrived.

  Cited Zakk D. Neville, 21, of Middlebury for possession of marijuana, following an investigation in the pull-off near the school soccer field off Creek Road on Oct. 23. Police said another person connected with the case will be cited at a later date.
