ROBERTA HUMISTON

LOWELL, Vt./ST. CLOUD, Fla. — Roberta E. Humiston, 75, of Lowell, Vt. and St. Cloud, Fla., died Dec. 17, 2014, in Kissimmee, Fla., after a short illness.

She was born March 30, 1939, in Colchester, Vt., the daughter of Wendell and Ella (Warren) White.

She spent winters in Florida with her loving partner, Martin Trombly. Those who knew her said she enjoyed barbecues with family, miniature golf, gardening, crocheting, traveling and her home in Florida.

MICHAEL MORGAN

MIDDLEBURY — Michael G. Morgan, 55, of Middlebury died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

He was born May 13, 1959, in Middlebury, the son of Ray and Yvonne Morgan.

He graduated from Middlebury Union High School and Champlain College with an accounting degree. His relatives say he enjoyed doing art work and spending time with his family, and that he was an avid Baltimore Orioles and Cleveland Browns fan.

H. DUNCAN ROLLASON

TUCSON, Ariz. — H. Duncan Rollason Jr., 97, passed away peacefully from natural causes on Nov. 30, at Sunrise Senior Living in Tucson, Ariz.

MARY BAKER

RACEVILLE, N.Y. — Mary Louise Baker, 75, died on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2014, at Glens Falls Hospital.

She was born on April 8, 1939, in Lebanon, N.H., the daughter of Vernon and Helen (Barnum) Kendall.

She lived a great deal of her life in Bristol, Vt. She graduated from Bristol High School in 1957. She attended one year of college at Castleton State College, where she met her husband Douglas J. Baker. There were married in Bristol on June 22, 1958.

HERBERT PELTIER

CASTLETON — Herbert John Peltier, 89, a longtime resident of Castleton, died on Dec. 17, 2014, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born on Feb. 13, 1925, in Shoreham, the son of Bert and Flora (Goyette) Peltier.

He enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving during World War II on the U.S.S. Alabama prior to his honorable discharge.

He married Julia Eagan on Nov. 11, 1948.

He was a dairy farmer and drove truck for several years, then owned and operated Herb’s Corner Store in Shoreham for 17 years until his retirement.

RICHARD POQUETTE

VERGENNES — Richard R. Poquette, 90, of Vergennes died Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

He was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Alburg, the son of Richard and Emela Rivais Poquette.

ELIZABETH DOWNER

NEW HAVEN — Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Downer passed away on Dec. 10, 2014, after a long battle of declining health.

Born in Cornwall on May 23, 1931, to Fredrick and Stella Mae Labshere, Liz was the youngest of five children, and was the last surviving member of her family.

Liz is survived by her loving daughter, Tammy Downer of New Haven.

DANIEL ELDER

MIDDLEBURY — Daniel Elder, aged 60, of Middlebury died on Dec. 15, 2014, at the VA in White River Junction. A seventh-generation Vermonter, he attended St. Johnsbury Academy and Lyndon State College and Vermont Technical College in the pre-engineer technology department. He entered the U.S. Army in 1972 where he served as a medic.

LAWRENCE KEMP

CORNWALL — Lawrence Paul “Kemper” Kemp, 54, died unexpectedly Thursday, Dec. 11, 2014, at Porter Medical Center.

Born June 7, 1960, in Middlebury, he was the son of Paul M. and Nancy (Sperry) Kemp. He was a graduate of Middlebury High School, class of 1978.

He worked in the construction and cement industries. His family says he enjoyed fishing, hunting and his cat, Herman.

JANE AULT LINDHOLM

BRUNSWICK, Maine — Jane Ault Lindholm, 1915-2014, died peacefully on Dec. 11. Jane was smart, funny, generous, and kind, an avid reader of classic literature, books of all kinds, and a prolific poet, if mostly unpublished. A lover of language, she was remarkable in her ability to recite from memory whole poems and lengthy soliloquies. She was a beloved wife, mother (grandmother and great-grandmother), aunt, and nurturing sister to her eight younger siblings.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
