JOSEPH PENDROK

ADDISON — Joseph J. Pendrok, 95, of Addison, formerly of South Windsor, Conn., died Thursday morning, Feb. 19, 2015, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center.

He was born June 25, 1919, in Glastonbury, Conn., the son of the late John and Julia (Zesut) Pendrok.

He was a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII with the Military Police from 1941 to 1945, obtaining the rank of corporal.

Joseph married his wife, Eleanor C. Larsen, in 1944 and they celebrated 61 years of marriage. She predeceased him on July 11, 2005.

JOSEPH BOISSE

MONKTON — Joseph Adonias Boisse, 77, of Monkton died on Feb. 14, 2015, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington. He was surrounded by his spouse, brother and sister-in-law.

DAVID COLE

ADDISON — David P. Cole, 79, a former longtime resident of Orangeburg, N.Y., died at his home in Addison on Feb. 14. He was born on April 29, 1935, in Tappan, N.Y., the son of Ezra Cole and Jean (Powell) Cole.

An avid fisherman and orchardist, he was a graduate of Nyack High School and Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked at the Bronx Zoo, retiring as director of operations in 2001. He was also a lifetime member of the Orangeburg Volunteer Fire Department.

HOWARD DEVOID

WANTAGE, N.J. — Howard E. DeVoid Jr., 81, died Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2015, at his residence in Wantage.

Born in Salisbury, Vt., to the late Howard E. DeVoid Sr. and Jennie (Baker) DeVoid, he grew up in Vermont, where he maintained a summer residence. He had lived in Wayne before moving to Wantage two years ago.

He served in the United States Marines Corps during the Korean War. He was employed by American Cyanamid in Wayne as a transportation manager before his retirement.

JULIE TETA

RUTLAND — Julie Teta, 78, of Rutland, died peacefully Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, in the University of Vermont Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 30, 1936, in Rutland, the daughter of Harold "Mike" Beane and Marie Dorothee (Bellerose) Beane. She graduated from Rutland High School in 1954, and received her Bachelor of Art's in French from Columbia University.

MARION MACGOWAN

BRISTOL — Marion Kate MacGowan, 81, of Bristol died Feb. 16, 2015.

She was born in Addison to Mae Field and Fred Moorby. She attended Vergennes High School and worked as a legal secretary. Her family says she enjoyed horses, dogs, music, movies and cooking.

She was the beloved mother of two children, the late Frederick MacGowan and Donna MacGowan, who resides in Boston, Mass., with her husband, Richard Rickles.

MARY ROSE

VERGENNES — Mary Alice Rose, 66, of Vergennes died on Feb. 8, 2015, at Porter Hospital surrounded by her husband, Arthur, and daughters Lisa and Sarah.

Mary was born in Port Henry, N.Y., the daughter of Stanley and Elizabeth Gilbo. She grew up in Port Henry and attended school there. After high school, she attended Albany Business College.

RUSSELL JACKSON JR.

NEW HAVEN — Russell William “Buck” Jackson Jr., 51, died Friday afternoon, Feb. 13, 2015, at his home after a long illness.

He was born Sept. 14, 1963, in Middlebury, the son of Russell William Jackson Sr. and Jeannette (Larocque) Jackson. He was a graduate of Mount Abraham Union High School, class of 1982.

ERWIN WELLER

RUTLAND — Erwin Weller, 83, a former resident of Brandon, died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, at Rutland Health 7 Rehabilitation Center.

He was born in Ripton on May 10, 1931. He was the son of Robert and Anna Weller. He grew up in Ripton where he received his early education.

ELIZABETH POQUETTE

VERGENNES — Elizabeth R. Poquette, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

She was born on May 20, 1929, in Vergennes, the daughter of Chester and Lucy (Trudeau) Jordan.

She married Richard R. Poquette on June 30, 1946, and he predeceased her on Dec. 15, 2014, after 68 years of marriage.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
