ANITA CHURCH

MIDDLEBURY — Anita Dufour Church, 90, a 70-year Vermont resident, passed away peacefully on Jan. 1 at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

KENT SPAULDING

INVERNESS, Fla. — Kent Nolan Spaulding, 62, died unexpectedly in his home in in Inverness, Fla., on Dec. 3, 2015.

He was born on April 7, 1953, graduated from Middlebury Union High School in 1971, worked at Polymers in Middlebury, then moved to Inverness.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Tyley Spaulding of Inverness; son Christopher Spaulding of New Haven, Vt.; sisters Susan Lee of East Middlebury, Vt., and Sally Rigg of Bridport, Vt.; brother Carroll “Skip” Spaulding of Amherst, Mass.; and two stepdaughters.

DINA EDELMAN

MIDDLEBURY — Dina Edelman, born May 13, 1923, in Frankfurt, Germany, died peacefully on Jan. 3, 2016, at the Respite House in Williston after a short illness.

AUDREY MOORE

MIDDLEBURY — Audrey Petrea Moore died Jan. 2 at age 92 at home in Middlebury, in the same room where her husband, Robert, died four months earlier. She and Robert were married for 68 years.

Mrs. Moore was born in Mineola, N.Y., the only daughter of Louise and Harrison Seaman. The girls she befriended in her Fifth Avenue neighborhood in the 1930s remained friends throughout her life.

MARY COYLE

FERRISBURGH — Mary A. Coyle, 60, of Ferrisburgh died on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2015, after a long struggle with chronic medical problems.

Mary was born in Burlington on Dec. 7, 1955. She graduated from Middlebury Union High School.

 Mary worked at Counseling Service of Addison County. She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Church in Vergennes. Mary enjoyed her friends and staff from Home Health Services and Project Independence.

DONALD BURCHARD

SALISBURY — Donald Bishop Burchard, age 84, died Friday, Dec. 11, 2015, at his home in Salisbury.

Mr. Burchard was born in Millville, N.J., on July 26, 1931. He was the son of Allan and Florence (Kopke) Burchard. He grew up in Tuckahoe (N.J.) where he received his early education and graduated from Ocean City (N.J.) High School, class of 1949. He had played football and track and was the State Champion Shot Putter.

BARBARA DANIELS

HUBBARDTON — Barbara O. Daniels, 93, died Dec. 28, 2015, in Hubbardton.

She was born July 3, 1922, in Waitsfield. She married Ernest Daniels in 1950. She worked at Whitehall Metal and General Electric in Rutland, retiring to take care of her elder sister.

She is survived by her daughter, Trudy Booth of Hubbardton; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband and six siblings. 

Memorial contributions may be made to one’s own charity.

ERWIN "ELI" ELITHORPE

BRISTOL — Erwin “Eli” J. Elithorpe, 74, passed peacefully on Dec. 20, 2015, at his home, with his family by his side. Eli was born on Jan. 22, 1941, in Burlington. He was the son of John and Una (Farnsworth) Elithorpe.

Eli grew up in Shoreham, attended Northfield Mount Hermon in Northfield, Mass., and graduated from Shoreham High School. He served in the Air Force from 1959-1963 and worked many years for Foster Motors and Mid-state Truck before moving to Bristol in 1982.

FLETCHER “RANDY” FOOTE

MONTGOMERY, Minn. — Fletcher “Randy” Raymond Foote, age 53, of Montgomery, Minn., died on Friday, Nov. 27, 2015, at May Systems Hospital in New Prague.

Randy was born on July 12, 1962, in Middlebury, Vt., to Fletcher Edgar and Sandra Mabel (Gerry) Foote. Randy graduated from Mount Abraham Union High School in 1980. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years active duty and built a career in cryptological security systems. After retiring from the military, he continued his career in home securities and home improvements.

PAULINE JUAIRE

PROCTOR/RICHFORD — Pauline Juaire, age 63, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2015, at the Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home in Burlington.

She was born in Richford on June 12, 1952, the daughter of the late Theophile and Ruth (Rushford) Juaire.

Pauline attended the Brandon Training School and took part in the Rutland Community Access Program. She enjoyed listening to old-time country music and going for car rides, especially in the Red Convertible. For the past 25 years, Pauline made her home with her sister, Theresa in Proctor.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
