Wilma Butler

ST. GEORGE — Wilma J. (Reed) Butler, 62, of St. George died April 25, 2010, at her home in St. George with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer.

Services were private and in her home.

She was born May 23, 1947, in St. Albans, the daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Miller) Reed.

Her relatives say she loved to cook, do jigsaw puzzles, garden, crochet, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a homemaker and loved watching the Food Network channel on TV.

Marion Larocque

EAST MIDDLEBURY — Marion Virginia Larocque, 88, died early Friday morning, April 30, 2010, at her home in East Middlebury.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 7, at 11 a.m. in St. Genevieve Cemetery in Shoreham. The Rev. Brian O’Donnell will officiate.

Memorial contributions maybe made to Project Independence at 112 Exchange St., Middlebury, VT 05753.

She was born June 6, 1921, in Starksboro, the daughter of the late Emmons and Viola Mae (Taft) Morrill.

Bessie Dodge

CASTLETON — Bessie Katherine Dodge, 92, of Sudbury died Monday, April 26, 2010, at the Harvey House in Castleton.

A funeral service was held Thursday, April 29, at noon at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev. Robert Bove officiated. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.

She was born in Whiting on March 21, 1918, the daughter of Fred and Minnie Taylor Quelch.

She graduated from Brandon High School in 1938 and was later employed as an aide by the Brandon Training School. Her husband, Stewart E. Dodge, died Sept. 18, 1991.

Lucille Faubert

BRISTOL — A graveside service for Lucille Faubert, 95, of Bristol, who died Jan. 21, 2010, will be held Tuesday, May 4, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Middlebury.

Jean McEdward

MIDDLEBURY — Jean Easton McEdward died peacefully in her home Friday, April 23, surrounded by her loving family after a valiant battle with cancer.

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, April 27, at the Salisbury Congregational Church. The Rev. John Grivetti and the Rev. Christiana Del Piero officiated.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Phyllis Parker

NEW HAVEN — Phyllis Florence Parker, 77, died Thursday, April 22, at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 27, at the New Haven Congregational Church. Interment followed at the Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol.

Memorial contributions may be made to the New Haven Congregational Church.

She was born Feb. 28, 1933, in New Haven, the daughter of Charles and Lucy (Sanders) Sawyer.

She grew up on the family farm in New Haven.

Charles Severy

MIDDLEBURY — The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, for Charles Daniel Severy, 80, who died Feb. 14, 2010, will be held on Friday, April 30 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury.

The Rev. William Beaudin, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury, will officiate.

Lyle Webb, Sr.

SHOREHAM — Lyle Wayne Webb Sr., 73, of Shoreham died suddenly Thursday, April 22, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 28, at Lincoln United Church, with interment in Maple Cemetery in Lincoln.

He was born Nov. 22, 1936, in Lincoln, the son of Harry and Katie (Clark) Webb.

He went to school in Lincoln.

He married Judith A. Blanchard, mother of his children, Aug. 30, 1955; Helena Martell Webb; and Marjorie Grant Manning Webb on Nov. 24, 2002.

James Perlee

LEICESTER — James Henry Perlee, 68, of Leicester, formerly of Bristol, passed away Saturday April 17, 2010, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, April 26, at Bristol Baptist Church. 

He was born Jan. 17, 1942, in Hudson, N.Y., to Henry and Juna Bostwick Perlee.

He graduated from Bristol High School in 1960, and majored in European languages at Michigan State University.

William Andrews

WEST ADDISON — William Stewart “Bill” Andrews, 93, died peacefully Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Porter Hospital in Middlebury

A memorial service was held at the Vergennes Legion on Monday, April 26, at 11 a.m., with a graveside service following.

Donations can be made to Addison County Home Health and Hospice, PO 754, Middlebury, VT 05753.

He was born Dec. 21, 1916, in Troy, N.Y., the only son of William H. and Amy (Stewart) Andrews.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
