Beatrice M. Heath

STARKSBORO — Beatrice M. Heath, 79, passed away on July 1, 2011, at her home in Starksboro with family, where she had lived for the past 12 years. She was born April 30, 1932, in Burlington. She was the daughter of the late William and Bernice (Sadlier) Tuttle.

Julie Sofia Kolbus Keeler

MIDDLEBURY — On Saturday, July 2, 2011, Julie Sofia Kolbus Keeler died peacefully surrounded by her family at the ARCH Room at Helen Porter Nursing Home. Julie was born Feb. 16, 1920, the youngest child of Frank and Zofia (Dziedzic) Kolbus.

Julie graduated from Williamstown High School in Williamstown, Mass., in 1939. On Oct. 18, 1941, she married Donald Martin Keeler in Bristol, who predeceased her in March 1983.

Paulina Barrera Nickerson

PALM BAY, Fla. — Paulina Barrera Nickerson of Palm Bay, Fla., died Monday, June 6, 2011.

She was born July 6, 1952, in Puebla, Mexico, to Luis Barrera Pineda and Gloria Martinez de Barrera.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Nickerson; daughters Maria Smith and Barbara Nickerson; a grandson; and many other friends and family members in Williston, Brandon and Leicester, Vt.

Reginald “John” Peno

FERRISBURGH — Reginald “John” Peno, 80, died Sunday July 3, 2011, at his home in Ferrisburgh.

He was born July 22, 1930, in St. Albans, the son of Evelyn Button.

He owned Dunworkin Farm in Monkton, and he operated the farm with his wife Elizabeth for around 20 years. Then he started a trucking business and hauled shavings and sawdust to dairy and horse farms. His family says he enjoyed socializing with his buddies and always had a good joke to tell.

Margery Aileen (Plue) Young

ORWELL — Margery Aileen (Plue) Young, 97, died peacefully on Monday, July 4, 2011, at her home in Orwell.

She was born in Orwell on Oct. 16, 1913. She was the daughter of Charles Allen and Elizabeth (Bascom) Plue.

She received her early education at Hough School in Orwell and graduated from Rutland High School, class of 1930. She afterwards graduated from Middlebury College, class of 1934, earning her degree in math education.

Constance Leigh Billado

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark./VERGENNES, Vt. — Constance Leigh Billado, 64, of Mountain Home died Saturday, June 25.

She was born Feb. 23, 1947, in Elizabeth, N.J., the daughter of Albert and Jessie Mueller Gatow.

She graduated from Vergennes (Vt.) Union High School in 1965 and from Champlain College, Burlington, Vt., in 1967.

She married Wayne Billado on Oct. 17, 1998, in Burlington, Vt. She was a homemaker and lived in Mountain Home for 8 years, moving from Burlington, Vt.

Arthur S. McDonough

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — Arthur S. McDonough, 97, died Friday, June 17, 2011, at Peace River Regional Medical Center in Port Charlotte.

He was born April 15, 1914, in Hinesburg, Vt., the son of Patrick H. McDonough and Edith Siple McDonough. He attended schools in Hinesburg and Burlington and the University of Vermont.

He served in World War II in the European theater of operations in counter intelligence.

He married Inez Pierce, who predeceased him in 1980.

Floyd C. “Supe” Peck

NEW HAVEN — Floyd C. “Supe” Peck, 76, a resident of New Haven for many years, died Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at his home surrounded by loving family after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Middlebury Dec. 29, 1934, he was the son of the late George W. and Marie (Premo) Peck.

He was a 1953 graduate of Middlebury High School and was a well-known businessman in the area as the owner of Peck Glass & Auto Supply prior to moving into residential and commercial real estate development.

Iris Little Stacy

ORWELL, Vt./NORFOLK, Va. — Iris Little Stacy, 99, died April 23, 2011, at Ballentine Home in Norfolk, Va.

She was born in Monkton on Feb. 11, 1912. She was the daughter of Frank and Flora (Carpenter) Little. She was a retired schoolteacher in the Orwell school system.

Surviving is a son-in-law, Charles “Skip” Patnode of Norfolk, Va.; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

William T. Brown

SALISBURY — William T. Brown, 80, died early Saturday morning, June 25, 2011, at the Robinson home in Salisbury.

He was born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., Aug. 28, 1930, the son of Wilbur E. and Charlotte Brown.

He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict at the Naval Training Center, Newport, R.I., on the USS Wisconsin and USS Roanoke.

He was formerly employed by Simmonds Precision of Vergennes.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
