Norman Armstrong

NEW HAVEN — Norman Armstrong Jr., 57, of New Haven died Sept. 17, 2010.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 25, at Union Baptist Church in Pascagoula, Miss. Pastor Larry G. Hawkins Sr. officiated.

He was born Sept. 17, 1953, to Norman and Willie Armstrong.

Tamara Bardos

GOODYEAR, Ariz. — Tamara Sue Hickson Bardos, 67, formerly of Brandon, Vt., died Sept. 30, 2010, in Goodyear.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a date to be announced. Memorials in her name may be sent to the Society of St. John the Evangelist, 980 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, MA 02138.

She was born in Lebanon, Ind., on Aug. 30, 1943, to Betty Jean Allen and Marvin Morrell Hickson.

Royce Bora

CHARLOTTE — Royce Harvey Bora, 67, of Charlotte died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 28, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 2, at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Vergennes. Military burial will be held Tuesday, Oct. 5, in Grand View Cemetery, Charlotte at 11 a.m.

He was born in Charlotte Feb. 15, 1943, the son of Robert O. Bora and Marion Jewell Bora.

Richard L. "Dick" Bullock

SALISBURY — Richard L. “Dick” Bullock, 79, known as “The Voice of Tiger Football,” died Friday, Oct. 1, 2010, at his home on Lake Dunmore in Salisbury.

A funeral mass is planned for Saturday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury.

The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will follow in Farmingdale Veterans Cemetery in Middlebury.

A complete obituary will appear in a later edition of the Addison Independent.
Arrangements are pending at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.

Christine Fallon

VERGENNES/MIDDLEBURY — Christine Marie Fallon, age 73, of Vergennes/Middlebury passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Fletcher Allen ICU surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held Monday, 1 p.m., Oct. 4, 2010, at the Middlebury United Methodist Church. The Rev. Jill Robinson will officiate.

Christine was born in Weybridge on Feb. 6, 1937 to Homer and Hazel Austin and was the youngest of 12 children. Seven months after her birth, her father was killed in an accident.

NORWICH — Lauris Levi “Laurie” Grant, 92, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 2010, surrounded by family and friends.

Myrna Holdman

MIDDLEBURY — Myrna Gato Holdman, age 59, died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at her home, following a 10-year battle with lung cancer.

Friends shared in a “Celebration of Her Life” on Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Middlebury American Legion Post. The graveside committal service and burial followed the gathering.

Myrna was born in Palawan, Philippines, on Jan. 22, 1951. She was the daughter of Raynario and Salvacion (Francia) Gato. She had taught chemistry in the Philippines, where she met and married her former husband, Stephen Holdman.

Jon O'Brien

BRISTOL — Jon V. O’Brien, 49, of Bristol died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 8, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol. Interment will be in St. Peter Cemetery in Vergennes. Friends may call at Brown-McClay Funeral Home in Bristol on Friday, Oct. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m.

He was born July 19, 1961, in Middlebury, the son of Vincent and Marilyn Wallace O’Brien.

Mary Shackett

BRISTOL — Mary E. Shackett, 69, of Bristol died early Thursday morning, Sept. 30, 2010, at her residence.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 11 a.m. in Fairdale Cemetery on Creek Road in Middlebury. The Rev. Pierre A. Lavallee, pastor of St. Ambrose Catholic Church, will officiate.

She was born Nov. 19, 1940, in South Burlington, the daughter of Leonard K. and Beatrice M. (Soulia) Roberts.

Robert Rosane

RICHFORD — Robert Edward Rosane of Richford, passed away in Worcester, Mass., on Sept. 20, 2010, with his family at his side.

There will be a celebration of his life at a later date at the Congregational Church in Middlebury. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Vermont Youth Orchestra.

Mr. Rosane, Bob to family and friends, was born in Brockton, Mass., and educated at Deerfield Academy and Harvard University.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
