Lucienne R. Brown

 

MIDDLEBURY — A graveside committal service for Lucienne R. Brown, 90, a longtime resident of Middlebury who died Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at Porter Hospital, will be conducted Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at 1 p.m. at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury. The Rev. William R. Beaudin, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, will officiate.

Millicent Buonincontro

 

MIDDLEBURY — Millicent Buonincontro, 99, died April 16, 2011, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

Millie, as most people called her, was born March 28, 1912, in Flushing, N.Y., to Dominic and Angelina Paratore. While growing up as one of four girls, Millie loved going to boxing matches with her father and riding on his “Indian” motorcycle.

Stephen Richard “Steve” Clapper

 

BRISTOL — Stephen Richard “Steve” Clapper, 48, died Friday, April 15, 2011, at Fletcher Allen Hospital surrounded by his loving family, after a long battle with heart disease.

He was born May 22, 1962, in Bristol, Conn. He graduated from Middlebury Union High School. He held jobs of all kinds, mainly in restaurants.

His family says he was a fighter and hard worker all his life, “a gambler, gamer and gabber.” He was a member of American Legion Post 19.

Clifton A. Dike

 

BRISTOL — Clifton A. Dike of Bristol passed away on April 4, 2011, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was 92 years old.

Gramp lived alone up until January of this year. Then he was having some trouble so he wanted to go there. He enjoyed it there. He loved making all the ladies laugh, along with the staff.

Gramp had a special friend, George Crane, who would take him fishing. He sure did love that, and playing checkers with him.

Genevieve Ruth (Sawyer) “Gene” Eldredge and Bernard Murray Eldredge

 

MESA, Ariz. — Genevieve Ruth (Sawyer) “Gene” Eldredge, 89, died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at her home of 20 years in Mesa, surrounded by her daughters, Laraine Keefe and Bonnie Wolfsburg. Bernard Murray Eldredge, 90, died Monday, April 4, 2011, of a heart attack, surrounded by friends and family in a family care center in Mesa. The couple was married 70 years.

Gene was born to Sadie and Charles Sawyer on March 14, 1921, in Middlebury, Vt. She is survived by her sister, Mary Keller, of Yountville, Calif.

Philip “Joe” Wallace Euber Jr.

 

BRANDON — Philip “Joe” Wallace Euber Jr., 70, died Sunday, April 17, 2011, at his home in Brandon.

He was born in Leicester on Oct. 29, 1940. He was the son of Philip W. and Marguerite (Parker) Euber Sr. He received his early education in local Leicester schools.

In his earlier years he worked as a logger and woodsman. He later moved to Brattleboro where he farmed. He returned to Brandon in 2000 following the death of his wife, Wilma. His relatives say he enjoyed fishing, playing his guitar and singing.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt./DELTONA, Fla. — Kathryn Virginia Gale, 89, formerly of Middlebury, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at her home in Deltona, Fla.

Russell Frederick Hallett

 

BRANDON — A private graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, for Russell Frederick Hallett, 90, who died March 6, 2011, was held on Tuesday, April 19, at the family lot in Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.The Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church, officiated.

Military honors were accorded by members of the Brandon American Legion Post 55, led by Sgt. at Arms Robert Gearwar.

Chaplain Norman Reed delivered a Legionnaire’s service.

WEYBRIDGE — Bonnie Jean Lackard, 74, died Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at her home in Weybridge.

She was born in Middlebury on Sept. 17, 1936. She was the daughter of Milo and Irene (French) Masterson. She graduated from Middlebury High School, class of 1955.

Catherine A. Menard

 

MIDDLEBURY — Catherine A. Menard, 96, a longtime resident of Shoreham, died Monday, April 18, 2011, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Rochester Aug. 9, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Edgar P. and Bessie (Gokey) Akey.

She was a graduate of Mount St. Mary High School and attended Trinity College in Burlington and Burlington Business College.

She was a homemaker for many years, and served as Shoreham town treasurer and assistant town clerk.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
