Lucy E. Danyow

 

MIDDLEBURY — Lucy E. Danyow passed away peacefully at Porter Hospital, Tuesday, March 22, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.

Born February 21, 1925 in Middlebury, she was the daughter of Charles J. and Francis (Swenor) Shaw.

She grew up in Middlebury where she met Raymond A. Danyow Jr. and they married on April 24, 1946. As a young woman, Lucy was a waitress at many local restaurants.

In 1955 Lucy and Raymond “Buck” opened Champlain Construction Company in Middlebury. She was the backbone of the company.

Della D. Fenn

 

MIDDLEBURY — Della D. Fenn, 85, a longtime resident of Middlebury, died peacefully at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center Monday, March 21, 2011.

Born in Chateaugay, N.Y., May 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Laura (Wood) Willis. Following the death of her mother at a young age, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Paul and Nancy (Wood) Dow.

Lloyd Hugh LeRock

 

FOREST DALE — Lloyd Hugh “Ted” LaRock, 96, of Forest Dale died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Brandon on July 22, 1914. He was the son of Albert and Grace (Blair) LaRock.

He began his early education in a one-room school house in Sudbury. He continued his education in Brandon schools. He worked for Babbit’s Garage in Rutland as a mechanic prior to enlisting in the military.

Jean Guy Albert Quenneville

 

LEICESTER — Jean Guy Albert Quenneville, 77, of Leicester died Tuesday, March 8, 2011, at Sebastian River Medical Center in Sebastian, Fla.

He was born Sept. 5, 1933, in St. Isadore, Ontario, Canada. He was the son of Romeo and Lucille (Laviolette) Quenneville.

He moved to Cornwall from St. Isadore in 1950. He was a dairy farmer all his life. He retired in 1990.

Stephen Clark

 

MONKTON — Stephen D. Clark, 60, of Monkton passed away on March 13, 2011, in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

The son of Howard L. Clark and Elsie Dancaster Clark, he was born on March 26, 1950, in Danbury, Conn. He moved to Vermont in 1968 and graduated from the University of Vermont.

Margaret Lonergan

 

BRANDON — Margaret Elaine Lonergan, 62, died on St. Patrick’s Day 2011 at her home in Brandon.

She was born in Brandon on Sept. 26, 1948. She was a lifelong Brandon resident. She received her education in Brandon schools.

In her earlier years she worked in the housekeeping department at the Brandon Motor Lodge. She later worked for several various area families doing housekeeping and light gardening.

Gaynor T. Browne

 

MIDDLEBURY — Gaynor T. Browne, 87, died Tuesday evening, March 8, 2011, at the Lodge at Otter Creek in Middlebury.

She was born Nov. 10, 1923, in Springfield, the daughter of the late Paul and Bronica (Krupski) Bellski.

Gaynor worked as a secretary for Middlebury College in the food service department. She also volunteered at Porter Hospital and was a member of the Porter Medical Auxiliary and served on the Addison County Court Diversion Program.

Elsie R. Pawul

 

NEW HAVEN — Elsie R. Pawul, 71, died Thursday, March 10, 2011, at Helen Porter Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

She was born May 4, 1939, in Haver, N.H., the daughter of John and Lucy (Terry) Beede.

She is survived by her husband, Howard Pawul of New Haven; three children, John Pawul and wife Mellissa of Salisbury, James Pawul and Kim of Montpelier, and Janis and Paul Sullo of Bristol; six grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Alberta J. Wood

 

SHOREHAM — Alberta J. Wood, 87, a resident of Shoreham since 1972, died Monday, March 14, 2011, at Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Craftsbury Common on May 23, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus R. and Viola (Hesseltine) Johnson.

Alberta was a graduate of West High School, Manchester, N.H., class of 1942, and Keene State Teachers College, class of 1946. She taught home economics in the Weare and Goffstown, N.H., school system for four years.

Betty Carolyn Gilbert

 

ORWELL — Betty Carolyn Gilbert, 80, died in her home in Orwell on March 8, 2011. 

She was born on Jan. 15, 1931, in Adams Center, N.Y. She was the daughter of Harold and Carolyn (Peach) Langworthy. She graduated from Lyme (Conn.) High School, class of 1949.

On Oct. 4, 1952, she married the love of her life, Fred Gilbert. In 1969 they followed their dream to operate their own dairy farm. They relocated from Rocky Hill, Conn., to Addison, where they farmed together until selling the farm in 1983.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
