Leonard Joseph Latreille

MONKTON — Leonard Joseph Latreille, 80, of Monkton died Nov. 1, 2010, in his home surrounded by his wife and family.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, at the Monkton Friends Methodist Church from 1-3 p.m.
He was born July 16, 1930, in Syracuse, N.Y., the son of Lucien and Esther (Dingman) Latreille.
He spent his early years in Saint Ancient, Quebec, Canada. He returned to the states in his late teens, settling in Vermont where he met his wife, Beverly. They were married Jan. 29, 1950.

Michael Lubinski

LEICESTER — The graveside funeral service for Michael Earl Lubinski, 64, who died Oct. 26, 2010, was held Tuesday, Nov. 2, in Brookside Cemetery, Leicester. Gary Stanley, a family friend, officiated.
Full military honors were accorded by Air Force personnel, with Sgt. Erica Rabidoux and Sgt. Jason Berube folding the flag, which was then presented to his widow, Judy Lubinski, by Sgt. Rabidoux. Members of the Brandon American Legion Post 55 made up the color honor guard and fired the volley salute. Sgt. Morrell Bunbury sounded taps.

Arlene Morin

MIDDLEBURY — Arlene A. Morin, 76, died Saturday morning, Oct. 30, 2010, at her home in Middlebury.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, Nov. 6, at 2 p.m. at Middlebury Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7823, Exchange Street.
She was born March 22, 1934, in Brandon, the daughter of Robert and Thelma (Severy) Whitney.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Middlebury. She was a foster mother for over 26 years.

MIDDLEBURY — Carol Elizabeth (de Dobay) Rifelj, 63, of Middlebury, died Oct. 26, 2010, at home with her family, after a courageous four-year struggle with cancer.

Bettey Sullivan

TULLY, N.Y. — Mrs. Bettey R. Sullivan, 79, of Tully, N.Y., died while visiting family in Vermont on Thursday evening, Oct. 28, 2010, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury, Vt.
She was born March 14, 1931, in Mineville, the daughter of Francis and Catherine (Cyr) Barnes.
A memorial Mass was celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at the Lafayette Alliance Church. The Rev. Rob Gates officiated.
Burial will be at a later date in Vermont.

Gerald Wedge Jr.

LEICESTER — Gerald Burton Wedge Jr., 74, of Leicester died Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Stowe on July 30, 1936. He was the son of Gerald and Esther (Miller) Wedge Sr.
He grew up in Richmond and Addison where he received his early education in local schools. In his earlier years he farmed. He later became a woodsman. He logged various areas of the state with his team of horses.

Aline Douglas

BRANDON — After a long illness, Aline Douglas died on October 28, 2010. She was born on August 11, 1930, to Dominique and Leonie (Bercier) Boisvenue in Whiting, Vermont. She was educated in Whiting, Middlebury, and Brandon schools, graduating from Brandon High School in 1949. She married Raymond (Corky) Douglas on October 5, 1950, in Leicester, Vermont. Aline and Corky celebrated 60 years of marriage on October 5, 2010.
There will be no calling hours or services at her request.

Michael Lubinski

LEICESTER — Michael Earl Lubinski, 64, of Leicester died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2010, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center following a brief hard-fought battle with cancer.
The graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 10 a.m. in the family lot at Brookside Cemetery in Leicester. Gary Stanley, a family friend, will officiate.
He was born in Middlebury on Feb. 3, 1946. He was the son of Stanley and Shirley (LaRock) Lubinski.

James Monzel

MONKTON — James Alan Monzel of Monkton died recently at his home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, 2894 Spear St., Charlotte. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol. There will be no public calling hours.

Johanna Yancheson

BRIDPORT — Johanna Yancheson, 94, of Bridport died Oct 1, 2010, in Payson, Ariz., after complications from an unfortunate fall.
Her memorial service was held on the 16th of October 2010, by Steve Captain, who is a bishop in the LDS church in Mesa, Ariz.
Johanna was born in Scheveningen, the Netherlands, on June 29, 1916. She moved from the Netherlands in 1974 and settled in California, Vermont, Michigan, Utah and Arizona and finally back to Vermont.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
