Elizabeth K. Fiske

BRISTOL — Elizabeth K. Fiske, 97, formerly of Middlebury, died Saturday evening, June 18, 2011, at Shelley Robison’s private care home in Bristol.

Born June 15, 1914, in Cornwall, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Cecilia (Cummings) Delphia. She was a graduate of Middlebury High School and attended Middlebury College.

She was a homemaker and her family says she enjoyed gardening and sewing and was an avid reader.

Chester A. Kimball

NEW HAVEN — Chester A. Kimball, 79, of New Haven died Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury.

He was born on April 18, 1932, in Bridport to Arthur and Nina (Garvey) Kimball. He graduated from Beeman Academy in 1950 and was married to Lavina Steady that fall.

Bonnie Lackard

WEYBRIDGE — The Lackard family will hold a celebration of the life of Bonnie Lackard, who died April 13, 2011, on Saturday, June 25, at 871 Cave Road in Weybridge.

A brief family service will be held at 11 a.m., with a party following at 1 p.m. All who knew her are welcome.

Eugene Thomas Seno

SELINGSGROVE, Pa. — Eugene Thomas Seno, 64, of Selingsgrove, formerly of Lilly, passed away from cancer on June 19, 2011, in Pittsburgh.

He was born March 1, 1947, in Lilly.

He was the son of Peter and Claire Louise (Sandy) Seno.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Claire Louise (Sandy) Seno. He is survived by his father, Peter Seno of Lilly.

Kenneth Harland McLaughlin

TICONDEROGA, N.Y. — Kenneth Harland McLaughlin, 87, born in Bridport, Vt, and a longtime resident of Ticonderoga, passed away after a short illness at HPH Hospice in Dade City, Fla., surrounded by his loving family, on June 7, 2011. He was born on Oct. 3, 1923.

Kenneth was predeceased by his parents, Audrey and Walter McLaughlin, his beloved granddaughter Jennifer A. Barber, and his aunt, Janet Swinton.

Kenneth was a WWII veteran and was involved in the liberation of two concentration camps in Germany.

Marjorie Ellen Barber Russell

SUDBURY — Marjorie Ellen Barber Russell, age 83 of Sudbury, Vermont, passed away with her family at her side on June 14, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Mrs. Russell was born Jan. 15, 1928, to Chauncey Rumsey Barber and Olive Sarah St. John Barber. She is survived by her four children: Ted Russell of Sudbury, Deborah R. Sanborn of Maidstone, Sherry R. Williams of Bay City, Texas, and Mark Russell of Orwell. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Frederick L. Thompson

LINCOLN — Frederick L. Thompson, 78, of Lincoln died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

He was born March 9, 1933, in Lincoln, the son of F. Ralph and Ida (Cram) Thompson.

He married Eleanor Farr on May 22, 1955.

He was a member of Lincoln United Church. He served on school boards for 23 years and on town and regional planning commissions. He retired as a major from the U.S. Air Force with 20 years as a pilot instructor and including tours in Vietnam.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
