DONNA ANN LAVALLEE

BRISTOL — Donna Ann Lavallee, 56, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 27, 2015, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.

She was born February 9, 1959, in Andrews Air Force Base in Washington, D.C., the daughter of Edward and Ramona Dionne.

She grew up in Air Force bases throughout United States and Germany. She enjoyed scrapbooking and playing basketball and softball in high school and doing needlepoint and gardening.

She was predeceased by her father, and by her uncle Earl Fisher.

CINDY KAYE MILLS

FERRISBURGH — Cindy Kaye Mills, 60, of Ferrisburgh died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at her home.

She was born on June 9, 1954, in Wichita, Kan. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Drake University and a Master’s from Webster University.

She was employed as the chief operating officer of Vermont Adult Learning. She was an avid fan of women’s basketball, a lifelong Girl Scout, a talented cook and a loving spouse, daughter and friend.

MARY ‘BOOTSIE’ MORRIS

FERRISBURGH — A celebration of life service for Mary “Bootsie” Morris, 98, of Ferrisburgh, who died Dec. 28, 2014, will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 10 a.m. at the Basin Harbor Club, in the meeting room to the left of the main lobby. A brief reception will follow. ◊

RENE ARTHUR PRESEAU

SUDBURY — Rene Arthur Preseau, 65, died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

He was born in Middlebury on Jan. 27, 1950, the son of Wilfred Joseph and Cecile Mary (Cousineau) Preseau. He grew up in Sudbury and received his early education in Sudbury Hill School and Burr Pond School. He graduated from Otter Valley Union High School in 1969.

Roger Henry Larocque

RIPTON — Roger Henry Larocque, 70, of Ripton died April 28, 2015, at the University of Vermont Medical Center surrounded by loved ones.

He was born March 3, 1945, in Salisbury to Omer and Yvonne (Quenneville) Larocque. He grew up in Salisbury, where he attended school and worked on the family farm.

In 1968 he was drafted into the U.S. Army and honorably served in the Vietnam War. After returning to the U.S. he worked as a roofer for 21 years, then was employed by the Ripton Elementary and North Branch schools until his retirement.

Pauline Steady

FERRISBURGH — On March 30th, 2015, life changed forever with the passing of our blessed Pauline (Muzzy) Steady. Being held by her daughter Irene, granddaughters Angie and Rebekah, she so gently joined her heavenly home.

Pauline was born on March 28, 1925, in Ferrisburgh. She helped her single mom raise her siblings while attending school and working at Basin Harbor. After graduating from Vergennes High School, Pauline attended two years of business school. She enjoyed her employment at GMP in Burlington, and later at Kennedy Brothers in Vergennes.

Joseph Leo Paul Demers

ZEPHYRHLLS, Fla. — Joseph Leo Paul Demers, 79, died Oct. 12, 2014, at his home in Zephyrhills.

He was born in Island Pond, Vt., on March 10, 1935, the son of Rolland and Marie (Messier) Demers. He served in the U.S. Army and received his honorable discharge in March 1960. He has been a resident of Zephyrhills for many years.

He enjoyed traveling, square dancing and working with his hands. He was a member of Pasadena Baptist Church in Dade City.

Lillian Ekroos

MIDDLEBURY — Lillian Ekroos, 79, died on Monday April 27, 2015, at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 22, 1935, in Hartland, the daughter of the late William and Leola Gladys (Brown) Carter.

She was a homemaker all her life, and raised seven children. She enjoyed word search puzzles, going to lawn sales, watching classic TV shows and game shows, and was an avid Elvis Presley fan. Most of all she enjoyed being with her grandchildren.

Edward M. Alexander

OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — Edward M. Alexander died April 26, 2015, at Southern Maine Medical Center.

He was born to Ethel (Niles) and Cecil Alexander on June 5, 1941, in Underhill, Vt. He lived for the past 10 years in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
