STANTON BRYDEN

BRISTOL — Stanton H. Bryden, 93, of Bristol died Tuesday, May 19, at 5 p.m.

He was born Dec. 14, 1921, in Oneida, N.Y., to Stanton and Bessie Bryden. He graduated from Tisbury High School in Tisbury, Mass., in 1940. He served in the Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1945. He graduated from University of Vermont in 1948 and married Rosemary Bristol the same year.

J.K. STEWART KIRKALDY

MIDDLEBURY — James Kydd Stewart Kirkaldy, 86, a retired family doctor who practiced in Westport, Mass., for 45 years, died May 19, 2015, at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury from complications after hip surgery.

Born on July 3, 1928, in March, England, Kirkaldy, known as Stewart, was the only child of Scottish natives John and Rhoda Kydd Kirkaldy. After his early education in March, where he was an accomplished athlete as well as student, he went to medical school at the University of Edinburgh in Scotland.

BEVERLY NORTON

BRIDPORT — Beverly Ann (Longley) Norton, 77, died Tuesday May 19, 2015, with her family by her side.

She was born July 5, 1937, in Burlington, the daughter of Clifton and Elizabeth (Emery) Longley.

On June 26, 1954, she married Carl Norton.

Throughout the years, she served the town of Bridport in many different capacities: town clerk, treasurer and dispatcher. Her relatives say she was a caring woman who always loved spending time with her family, instilling a strong sense of family values.

WILLIAM ROTAX

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — William Edward “Mr. Bill” Rotax, 61, of Syracuse, N.Y./North Ferrisburgh, Vt., died April 25, 2015, at his home in Syracuse, N.Y.

He was born in Middlebury, Vt., on June 10, 1953, the first son of Adolphus F. and Mary (LaFountain) Rotax.

CHRISTOPHER ACKER SR.

BRISTOL — Christopher Peter Acker, Sr., passed peacefully at his home with his loving family on Friday, May 15, 2015, after a long illness.

He was born on Dec. 13, 1935, to Hannet (Shadroui) Acker and Judson Franklin Acker in Barre, Vermont. He graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre, went on to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Vermont.

JOSAPHAT BOLDUC

BRISTOL — Josaphat Stanilaus Bolduc, 97, died Monday, May 18, 2015, at his home in Bristol.

He was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, on Nov. 13, 1917. He was the son of Evariste and Clementine (Labelle) Bolduc. He moved with his family to Bristol and then New Haven when he was a child. On June 14, 1948, he married Mary (Cousino) Bolduc at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Bristol.

WEYBRIDGE — The graveside committal service and burial for Rita Ann Fallon, 71, of Weybridge who died Dec. 26, 2014, will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015, at 1 PM, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury.

The Rev. William Beaudin, pastor of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, will officiate.

MARJORIE FREEMAN

MIDDLEBURY — Marjorie Freeman, 94, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Wednesday, May 6, at Porter Healthcare and Rehab Center in Middlebury.

She was born on May 21, 1920, in St Albans, Vermont, to Marvin and Mary Carter, the eldest of six children. She graduated from BFA High School in St Albans in 1938. Marjorie moved with her family to Montpelier shortly after. On July 29, 1942, she married Albert H. Freeman in Montpelier, VT. They moved to Middlebury in late 1954.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid and free obituaries. Paid obituaries run just as submitted with a charge of $9.00 per column inch, and the editor shapes free obituaries to conform to our editorial style. We run photos of the person if they are submitted in a relatively high-quality format.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN - Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
