ADDISON — A half-dozen Addison residents turned out on Monday night at Addison Central School to learn more about and comment on a proposed town plan that could lay the groundwork for new zoning laws.

Those laws, to be created only after the selectboard ultimately adopts a plan, could allow for smaller lots in the town’s biggest zoning district and create permanent regulations at the town level on solar arrays and windmills. The town now has interim regulations on the siting of solar arrays that the selectboard adopted in July.

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ soccer team couldn’t convert their many chances vs. visiting Mill River on Tuesday, while the Minutemen took advantage of one Tiger defensive lapse.

As a result, Mill River (3-0-1) escaped Fucile Field with a 1-0 victory despite the Tigers’ edge in play and territory, which can be fairly seen in their advantages of 22-8 in shots at goal and 10-4 in shots on goal.

In that first half, the Eagles outshot the Cougars, 6-2, and took a 1-0 lead, and that shot total did not count two Mount Abe goals the officials waved off, one for a foot foul and one for being struck outside the scoring circle.

FERRISBURGH — The work of a Ferrisburgh official has come under scrutiny and opened the question of whether the 19th century form of small town government is appropriate to Addison County’s third-largest municipality.

Ferrisburgh town workers have recently told the Ferrisburgh selectboard they are not happy with the performance of Town Treasurer Garrit Smits, alleging that Smits is working too few hours to do his job, leaving his co-workers to perform his work and subjecting the town to late fees.
