Vermont State Police Log: Police take Ohio fugitive into custody

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police received a call from an investigator with the Union County (Ohio) Sheriff’s Department, who provided credible information on a fugitive from Ohio living in North Ferrisburgh. Troopers located the accused, identified as 46-year-old Thomas Andrew Dague at his Route 7 residence and took him into custody without incident.

Police did not say what he was wanted for in Ohio, but they did lodge him at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility, bail was set at $50,000.

Vergennes Police Log: Police respond to arguments, motorist issues

VERGENNES — In a mostly routine seven days between Nov. 9 and 15, Vergennes police:

•  On Nov. 9 and 12 received tips about drug use and trafficking in the Vergennes area.

•  On Nov. 9 helped a motorist get into a locked car on Green Street.

•  On Nov. 10 checked out a report of a drunken man at Champlain Farms and determined he was OK.

•  On Nov. 10 backed up Vermont State Police at a domestic dispute in New Haven.

Middlebury Police Log: Woman cited for debit card fraud

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Rachael L. Carter, 20, of Middlebury for the alleged theft of, and fraudulent use of, a debit card at a local business on Nov. 11. Carter is scheduled to answer to the charge at the Addison County Courthouse on Dec. 28.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

• Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with an overdose patient in the Lower Foote Street area on Nov. 10.

Vt. State Police Log: Police cite sisters for 'smashing' incidents

ADDISON COUNTY — Police response to a report of a fight in the middle of a road in Lincoln last week resulted in three people going to jail — two of whom were also allegedly connected to a separate incident in Bristol.

On Wednesday, Nov. 4, at approximately 2:53 p.m. Vermont State Police responded to a report of a fight on West River Road in Lincoln. Dispatchers told the troopers that two vehicles had stopped outside a residence just west of Atkins Road.

Vergennes Police Log: Authorities investigate suspicious activity

VERGENNES — Vergennes police dealt with a variety of matters between Nov. 2 and 8, including reports of suspicious people and a number of traffic enforcement contacts.

During those seven days, Vergennes police:

• On Nov. 2 issued a no-trespass order to a Vergennes resident on behalf of Colchester police.

• On Nov. 3 stopped a motorist for driving 55 mph in a 30 mph West Main Street zone; as well as speeding, police cited the driver for operating without insurance, valid registration and valid license plates.

Middlebury Police Log: Reported theft was caught on store video

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police were informed on Thursday, Nov. 5, of the recent theft of some items from Martin’s Hardware on Route 7 South.

Police said store officials reported having video showing a shoplifter in the act. The investigation continues.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

• Assisted the Middlebury Fire Department at the scene of a small fire on Mill Street on Nov. 2.

• Investigated a noise complaint at a Court Street apartment complex on Nov. 2.

Vergennes Police Log: Door-to-door salespeople draw suspicion

VERGENNES — Vergennes police dealt with a variety of incidents between Oct. 26 and Nov. 1, including looking into suspicious person complaints that turned out to be door-to-door salespeople, offering parenting advice, and ticketing one motorist for driving more than twice the posted speed limit.

In those seven days, city police:

• On Oct. 26 served an abuse-prevention order to a female resident of First Street.

• On Oct. 26 dealt with an illegal dumping complaint at the New Haven Road car wash.

Middlebury Police Log: Woman cited on multiple charges

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Ashleigh Hickey, 23, of Middlebury for driving under the influence, second offense, and driving with a suspended license, following an incident in the Meadow Glen Drive neighborhood on Oct. 29.

A witness alleged that Hickey had been driving erratically through the neighborhood, including onto fields and over people’s lawns, according to police. Authorities said they measured Hickey’s blood-alcohol content at 0.195 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08.

Vermont State Police Log: Police investigating vandalism spree

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are investigating multiple incidents of vandalism to motor vehicles and property last Friday night and into Saturday morning. Authorities said that between 11 p.m. on Oct. 30 and 5 a.m. on Oct. 31, vehicles were vandalized on River Road in Bristol, South Street in New Haven and Snake Mountain Road in Weybridge.
