Vermont State Police Log: Man lodged after allegedly violating abuse prevention order

ADDISON COUNTY — On Dec. 7 at around 1:30 p.m. Vermont State Police in New Haven responded to the report of an abuse prevention order violation in Ripton.

As a result of their investigation, troopers arrested Brian Booska, 37, of Middlebury for violating an abuse prevention order. He was lodged at the Chittenden County Correctional Center for lack of $10,000 bail.

Separately, a New Haven woman was jailed last Friday as the result of allegedly engaging in two assaults, as well as having contact with a man with whom she is legally barred from contacting.

Middlebury Police Log: Elderly woman helped by police

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police helped reunite a disoriented elderly woman with her family on Thursday, Dec. 6.

Police said a passerby brought the woman into the Middlebury Inn after she had allegedly stepped in front of a car. The woman’s status was confirmed a short time later when authorities received a 911 call from a woman who reported her elderly mother was missing. A family member came in to collect the woman.

VSP log: Police stop knife-wielding driver

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police received a report of a road rage incident between two motorists actively taking place on Route 7 in the New Haven at a little after 1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 29. It was reported that one of the drivers was making slashing motions toward the other driver in the car and also raising his knife through a sunroof while making slashing motions toward the other driver.

Vergennes Police Log: Northlands student charged with assaulting fellow student

VERGENNES — Vergennes police jailed a female Northlands Job Corps student on Sunday after charging her with assaulting another female Northlands student.

City police on Dec. 2 cited Seantise Richardson, 19, of Newark, N.J., for both simple assault and obstruction of justice. Police alleged that Richardson kneed the female victim in the nose and then threatened the victim with further bodily harm if she told the police about the assault. Police lodged Richardson in the Chittenden County Correctional Center.

Middlebury Police Log: Police called to help with homeless woman

MIDDLEURY — Middlebury police were called to the Greystone Motel to deal on Route 7 South on Nov. 29 to deal with a homeless patron who was refusing to leave. After checking with the John Graham Emergency Shelter, police said the woman was ultimately taken to the Rutland Regional Medical Center for screening.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Responded to a noise complaint at a Case Street residence on Nov. 27.

Vergennes Police Log: Ferrisburgh man jailed for threatening pets, violating abuse order

 

VERGENNES — Vergennes police on Nov. 20 arrested a Ferrisburgh man after he allegedly threatened both a woman and her pets when she indicated she wished to end a relationship, and then jailed him again the next day after he violated his conditions of release.

Middlebury Police Log: DUI, narcotics stops keep police busy

 

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police cited Samuel M. Francoeur, 19, of Leicester for driving under the influence and possession or narcotics, following a stop for a traffic violation on Weybridge Street on Nov. 20.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Responded to a report of some dogs running free on East Main Street on Nov. 19.

•  Responded to a loud family dispute at the Blue Spruce Motel on Route 7 South on Nov. 19.

VSP Log: Brandon man cited for lewd and lascivious behavior with a child

ADDISON COUNTY / BRANDON — On Nov. 20 the Vermont State Police Special Investigation Unit in Rutland arrested Joseph M. Johnson, 53, of Franklin Street in Brandon and charged him with lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.

Police alleged that Johnson fondled a 10-year-old girl from a nearby town during her visit to his home the previous weekend. He pleaded innocent when arraigned in Rutland Superior Court, Criminal Division, on Monday, and was released.

Bristol Police Log: Man charged in multiple burglaries

BRISTOL — On Nov. 7 Bristol police arrested Chad Cook, 25, of Monkton, in connection with an ongoing burglary investigation conducted with Vermont State Police.

Cook confessed to stealing around 3,700 pounds of steel from a location in New Haven, according to Bristol Police Chief Kevin Gibbs. He said that law enforcement officials believed Cook to be one of three or four individuals responsible for a long string of burglaries from Salisbury to Burlington. As a result of the investigation, three burglary cases in Bristol village were closed.

VSP Log: Driver fled the scene of a one-car rollover

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police were called to a one car rollover accident on Route 30 in Cornwall on Friday, Nov. 16, at around 10:13 p.m.

Upon their arrival, troopers found that the man they believed to be the driver of the 1995 Ford Mustang, 37-year-old Joshua Laraway of Bridport, had fled the scene. The passenger, 21-year-old Justin Stone of Middlebury, was transported to Porter Hospital with serious injuries. Police said he had injuries to his neck, head, back, and possibly internal; and his condition late Friday was called “guarded.”
