Bristol Police Log: Bristol police host community talk, handle array of other incidents

BRISTOL — Bristol police on April 11 hosted the fifth Bristol community crime forum, which had a focus on school safety in light of the school shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn.

Attendees were briefed on the progress of forums to date by facilitator Kate McGowan and current status of drug crime issues by Police Chief Kevin Gibbs.

Addison Northeast Supervisory Union Superintendent David Adams and his staff detailed safety changes made in Five Town Area schools since the Newtown tragedy and fielded questions.

Bristol Police Log: Officers investigate phone scam

BRISTOL — Bristol police investigated a theft by deception and fraud case, which occurred on Oct. 19 in the police district.

Police reported that a male subject claiming to be a relative of the victim called the victim on the telephone and requested that a large sum of money be sent to Mexico. The story was that the victim’s relative had been in an automobile accident, and the money would be used to keep the relative out of jail.
