Bristol Police Log: Bristol police ticket drivers, serve warnings

BRISTOL — Bristol police had a busy March on traffic duty, according to a log of that month’s police actions released to the Independent last week. Police in March conducted 21 town-contracted patrols at various locations including: Monkton Road, Route 116, Hewitt Road, River Road, Burpee Road, Lower Notch Road and Daniel’s Four Corners.

During those patrols, police ticketed 12 drivers and issued five warnings.

Middlebury Police Log: Man swipes register from local restaurant

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police investigated the theft of a cash register from the Rice Restaurant on Seymour Street on Saturday, April 18.

Police said a man grabbed the register during business hours (at around 5:20 p.m.) and ran out the door. A witness reported the culprit ran into a wooded, swampy area off Maple Street, where he may have dumped the register.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to contact Middlebury police at 388-3191.

Vergennes Police Log: Traffic stop draws arrest and a citation

VERGENNES — After a recent West Main Street traffic stop, Vergennes police ended up arresting one New York resident and citing another on drug charges.

City police said that on Saturday they stopped a car on West Main Street for allegedly traveling 44 mph in a 30 mph zone, and smelled the odor of marijuana when they approached the vehicle. The driver and passenger declined a request to search the car, but police obtained a warrant and said they found 15.5 grams of Ecstasy, 22.5 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Middlebury Police Log: Theft reported at unlocked vehicle

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police are investigating a report that a computer had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle in The Centre parking lot off Court Street Extension on April 12.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Assisted Middlebury Regional EMS with a patient who had overdosed on medication at a home on Route 7 North on April 6.

•  Investigated a report of some youths smoking at the Mary Hogan Elementary playground on April 6.

Vergennes Police Log: City police stop undocumented workers for driving violations

VERGENNES — Vergennes police on Saturday night issued several traffic tickets to a man they described as an undocumented worker, actions taken following a traffic stop at the intersection of School and South Maple streets.

Police said the man driving a car with three other undocumented workers was extremely intoxicated. The officer could not communicate with the driver because he spoke no English and police could not arrange for a translator at the late hour, about 10:30 p.m.

Middlebury Police Log: Area youth cited after incident at teen center

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police say that 18-year-old Deven Corse-Terrier of Middlebury spray-painted a wall and piano at the Addison Central Teens center in the lower level of the Middlebury municipal building on April 2.

Authorities cited Corse-Terrier for unlawful trespass and unlawful mischief.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Responded to a report of a man urinating in front of a South Village Green business on March 30.

Vergennes Police Log: Cops kept busy with typical policework

VERGENNES — Vergennes police on this past Saturday arrested Ricky D. Putnam, 44, of Addison and charged him with robbing the Vermont Federal Credit Union on Friday and with robbing People’s United Bank downtown on March 13 (see full story in A section).

Middlebury Police Log: Police take man to hospital for evaluation

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police responded to a report of a man attempting to harm himself in the Marble Works business complex on Sunday, March 29.

Police located the man, who was taken to Porter Hospital for evaluation.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Were informed on March 23 that a man was missing from a Route 7 South home. The man eventually returned home, police said.

Police arrest seven in connection with Ferrisburgh break-ins

FERRISBURGH — Vergennes police on Friday morning arrested seven people — four adult men and three minor girls — in connection with a series of break-ins at camps in Ferrisburgh.

The adults arrested are: 19-year-old Seamus C. Doolan of Essex Junction; Brian J. MacKenzie, 18, of South Burlington; Nathan P. Morrill, 20, of Burlington and Matthew J. Shepardson, 21, of Hinesburg. Police issued juvenile citations to the girls and released them into the custody of their parents.
