Weather is on the minds of many Vermont residents this week. Thanksgiving weekend involves travel for many people, and is also around the time that more wintry weather starts building into the region. This year will be no exception – a storm is forecast to move into the area on Wednesday, and it's hard to say if the storm will bring a drenching, frigid rain or the year's first significant snowfall.

January to May wettest on record

ADDISON COUNTY — Those who sensed that the first five months of this year were wetter than normal were correct. Precipitation at the Burlington International Airport so far in 2011 is 24.4 inches — almost double the 12.41 inches in a typical year.

“Last year was close to normal,” said National Weather Service meteorologist Jessica Neiles. “We were 0.32 inches below normal. Now we’re 11.99 inches above normal.”
